Victor Newman has been running various schemes on “The Young and the Restless” recently, and while things were initially good for him, now his situation isn’t so bright anymore, and it’s actually been getting out of control in certain regards. The manipulations of the character are finally about to catch up with him, from what it seems, and he’ll likely have to suffer for his own actions to quite the large extent at some point.
Initially, Victor had the intention of preventing Nicholas and Sharon from getting married again, and while it seemed like an easy task at first, it actually dragged Victor into a huge mess which he’s been having a lot of trouble finding his way out of. Victor was well aware of a secret that Sharon was keeping from everyone except Phyllis, so naturally, he tried to bring Phyllis out of her coma just so he could get her to reveal said secret.
While this did work, as Phyllis surprised everyone by showing up at the wedding of Sharon and Nick, revealing the secret and breaking them up, it doesn’t seem like it would actually put an end to Victor’s plotting. If anything, he looks like he’s out for even more blood now that he’s seen a way to get to the other characters, plus Sharon ended up burning down Victor’s ranch to the ground, so he’ll likely want to cause a lot more damage.
Victor was also hard at work trying to separate Phyllis and Jack, and he tried to get into Jack’s head by taking Phyllis in his home so he could keep an eye on her. At the same time, Victor is also in a conflict with Ashley because of his stealing, something which he still doesn’t want to admit. He does return the formula but of course he’s already made a copy at this point.
And while these schemes have been working out relatively fine for Victor so far, the character might be in for some serious surprises in the next episode, as evidenced by both rumors about the show, as well as recent plot developments. It’s hard to say what exactly this will all lead up to, but the producers might be planning something big for the character, perhaps even a permanent change in him.
In general, Victor has been serving as a bit of a tool to the writers when they want to give a serious lesson about something, so it doesn’t seem likely that the character is going anywhere soon. But a more drastic development is also not out of the question, given the overall running duration of the show and how much it’s changed until now.
