Tim Tebow is Latest High-Profile Sports Celebrity to Vouch for Pacquiao in His Fight versus Mayweather

Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow became the latest high-profile sports celebrity to have thrown his support to Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao in his upcoming mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Tim Tebow is a Heisman Trophy winner in the NFL so he knows the art of winning in football as much as Manny Pacquiao knows it in boxing.

The former New England Patriots quarterback paid a courtesy visit to the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles on March 21 where the Pacman is currently on his intensive training for his much-anticipated welterweight bout with the pound-for-pound king.

Manny Pacquiao proudly posted on his Instagram a photo of him and Tebow at the Wild Card Gym on the day of the former NFL star’s visit which drew a lot of fan comments as well as oohs and ahhs considering the immense popularity of the football quarterback outside of football, details Yahoo! Sports.

Other things in common

Aside from being sportsmen, Manny Pacquiao and Tim Tebow also have several things in common. Both of them are devout Christians and always go out of their ways to extend a helping hand whenever needed.

In addition, both the Pacman and Tim Tebow were both born in the Philippines. Pacquiao was born in his hometown of General Santos City in the southern region of Mindanao, while Tebow was also born in the country because his parents were American missionaries to the Philippines back then.

The third similarity between the two is that they have the same level of fan appeal and are very popular in their respective sport or even outside of it.

While Tebow has already been out of the NFL for quite some time after he was unceremoniously released by the New England Patriots in the summer of 2013 for still unexplained reason, he still remains one of the most popular athletes in the world, especially among the ladies, who swoon at his good looks and distinct charisma.

Return to sport

There have been rumors of late that Tim Tebow is in the midst of negotiations to come back again to the NFL after almost two years of hiatus, but until a confirmation of the quarterback finally signing a deal with any of the NFL teams, everything is up in the air at the moment.

Manny Pacquiao, on the other hand, is on a comeback trail as well, after being knocked out cold by Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez during their fourth encounter in December 2012. He has piled up three successive victories since and a fourth and convincing win over Mayweather on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena would certainly put the Pacman on the world’s boxing pedestal.

Tim Tebow has joined the roster of high-profile Hollywood celebrities who believe Pacquiao will win the fight on May 2. He joined Pacman’s growing list of popular supporters including Mark Wahlberg, Brad Pit, Bob Dylan, Justin Timberlake, and lately Mike Tyson, among many others too.
