Nicole Perlman of “Inside Out” originated the screenplay for “Guardians of the Galaxy” before James Gunn. Now she’s working on “Captain Marvel” with co-writer Meg Lefauve.
Marvel previously tapped Taika Waititi as director back in October. Waititi is known for being the co-writer and co-director of the vampire spoof “What We Do in the Shadows.”
Before Folsom, Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle were the first to have worked on the script. The pair both worked on “Thor: The Dark World,” but it appears the studio is looking for a feminine touch for the upcoming film.
Some of Folsom’s works include the Black List script “1969: A Space Odyssey or How Kubrick Learned to Stop Worrying and Land on the Moon.” It is a fictionalized drama about NASA enlisting Stanley Kubrick to fake a phenomenal moon landing.
She also wrote the script for “The Princess of North Sudan,” Disney’s unique princess which was inspired by a true account of an American man claiming a territory in Africa and proclaiming himself and his family its royal rulers.
Given Taika’s credits as a writer in most of his projects, it appears that he will be working with Folsom to get the script done in order to begin the film’s production by June this year.
