The highly-anticipated sixth book “The Winds of Winter” of critically-acclaimed author George R.R. Martin in his fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” will be coming out very soon although no specific release date has been announced thus far.
Previous reports said that the book will likely be released around October this year, but the author himself does not want to confirm whether he is through with writing “The Winds of Winter” or not.
But all indications as of late point to the fact that Martin has already finished writing the book and it is likely being mass produced in a big printing press somewhere in time for its international launch later this year.
“Game of Thrones” Director Jack Bender actually spilled the beans on the book when he said recently on Reddit that he already has a copy of “The Winds of Winter.” But in an attempt to plug the major leak on the book, reports immediately came out saying that Bender might have confused the Season 6 outline of the HBO TV series “Game of Thrones” with the draft copy or manuscript of the book, notes Hollywood Take.
Uncharacteristically, Jack Bender has not made any subsequent comment on the book since then and he was likely prevented from doing so, lest he spills more beans to the public.
Building up the excitement
After the series finale of Season 5 of “Game of Thrones” put millions of global fans of the show on edges with plenty of cliffhangers, most of them resorted to the internet to look for spoilers and find the answers that they were seriously looking for.
As the cast members and the showrunners often give vague answers, if not misleading, fans were thus left with the biggest spoiler of them all – “The Winds of Winter.”
George Martin personally assured in a statement not too long ago that “The Winds of Winter” will come out before Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” is aired on HBO. The TV series will most likely be back on the airwaves in April next year so a release date from October 2015 to March 2016 for the book is very likely.
But everyone also knows that the internet is always ahead when it comes to news and leaks so fans are optimistic that more details of “The Winds of Winter” will become available as its release date draws near. More than anything else, they are excited for the book because they wanted to know what will happen to the major characters that they are following in the TV series.
Consistency and parallelism
George Martin has said previously that the TV series has already deviated from his book series so not everyone who dies in the series also dies in the book, short of saying that watching the TV series does not necessarily mean that it’s as good as reading the upcoming book.
But the fact of the matter still remains that the consistency and parallelism between the novel and the TV series simply cannot be ignored.
A good example is the fate of popular character Jon Snow. Towards the end of the fifth book “A Dance with Dragons,” Jon Snow was ambushed by his brothers in the Night Watch, stabbed several times, and left to die in the snow. It was exactly what happened during the series finale of Season 5 of “Game of Thrones.”
