After the Season 6 finale of the American post-apocalyptic horror survival drama TV series “The Walking Dead” on AMC in March this year, the biggest cliffhanger happened and it is about who villain Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, battered to a pulp with his barbed wire-laced baseball bat named Lucille.
There were 11 contenders for the ignominious character from Rick’s group from Alexandria who shall bow out of the TV series as a result of Negan’s batting.
With Season 7 of “The Walking Dead” a little over a week from premiering, the answer to the burning question since March this year seems to be getting louder and louder by the minute.
While the previous rumors were fairly consistent in saying that it is going to be Glenn, who shall have his skull bashed by Negan, the same fans and critics who have made that presumption are now having second thoughts about their guesses.
Aside from the fact that it was Glenn who got battered to a pulp by Negan in the comic book source material of “The Walking Dead,” his fate seemed to have been long teased at the early goings of Season 6 with a cliffhanger that had fans going through a loop for about four episodes, reports Variety.
However, there are now speculations saying that Negan’s victim would be a character that fans would be a little less protective of and it would be a toss-up between Abraham or Eugene.
A larger world out there
The production and cast members of “The Walking Dead” were in full force during the New York ComicCon held at the Madison Square Garden last week.
Although they were late, the waiting time was hardly noticed by the extreme excitement of the fans during the convention for their favorite TV series.
Showrunner Scott Gimple said that the fate of Rick’s group in the hands of Negan and the Saviors would be known shortly after fans find out who Negan’s victim is.
Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd explained that “The Walking Dead” Season 7 would explore the new worlds outside of Rick’s group and Negan’s Saviors. She added that there will be new characters who will be introduced including the highly-touted Ezekiel and his pet tiger Shiva from the Kingdom, details the Business Insider.
She said that even though the show has been big, it is essentially being contained. Hurd explained that the show has had the Atlanta season, the farm season, the prison season, and the Woodbury season.
Hurd said that ‘The Walking Dead’ universe is so big now and it is because of series creator Robert Kirkman.
Carol and Morgan in focus
Every fan of “The Walking Dead” is looking ahead to the premiere of Season 7 on October 23 because they wanted to know the victim of Negan.
The toss-up of the rumors is that it could either be Glenn, played by Steven Yeun, or Abraham, played by Michael Cudlitz, but if the TV series would remain consistent with its comic book source material, Glenn is going to be it.
While the first half of Season 7 of “The Walking Dead” will find the group of Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln, dealing with the fallout of the death of a fallen comrade, there are now reports going around saying that focus of the early episodes shall also see Carol, played by Melissa McBride, and Morgan, played by Lennie James, dealing with the Kingdom.
Reports are now confirmed that the upcoming season will see the introduction of King Ezekiel, to be played by Khary Payton, and his pet tiger Shiva, and they will be spending quality time with both Carol and Morgan.
It could be recalled that during the Season 6 finale, Carol wandered off on her own and was found again by Morgan.
The two encountered several walkers in a barn and were helped out by soldiers, who apparently belong to a community called the Kingdom.
