It was not too long ago when fans and viewers of the American post-apocalyptic survival horror drama TV series “The Walking Dead” were all waiting for the Season 6 premiere of arguably one of the most popular TV shows today.
In a blink of an eye, it’s already the 16th and final episode of “The Walking Dead” Season 6 on AMC and nearly every fan of the show wishes there could be more episodes.
Limiting itself with 16 episodes and not going beyond it is a good move for the producers of “The Walking Dead” because it always keeps the enthusiasm and the excitement fresh. There is also a standing challenge for the showrunners to compress the storylines and make sure that each episode would captivate the audience.
So far, since its midseason premiere, “The Walking Dead” Season 6 was right on target. It was giving fans what they want in terms of excitement, suspense, and thrills.
There is also a new plotline in the show following the midseason premiere that Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln, and his group will no longer be going up against the dead, but already the living.
“The Walking Dead” has taken on a ‘survival of the fittest’ mode, which is why fans and viewers have been glued to it like some action-suspense movie. It is no longer the suspense on who will be eaten alive by the walkers but who is going to die as a result of a raging battle between the living.
Alexandrians versus the Saviors
The second half of “The Walking Dead” Season 6 has become a battle between the Alexandrians, represented by Rick and company, and the Saviors, led by Negan, who until the 15th episode has yet to show his face on the TV series.
Apparently, the showrunners were intent on highlighting the cruelty first of Negan and his inhumane methodologies through word of mouth but his actions will be shown during the Season 6 finale and mostly on the show’s seventh season.
The show has successfully built up Negan’s reputation as a big bad and a no do-gooder with quite an attitude and viewers would really love to hate him.
There is a third bunch of people in the equation and they are from the Hilltop but they want to play it safe and would not like to be part of the battle. They are just willing to serve and provide for the victorious while keeping themselves alive in the process.
The penultimate episode of “The Walking Dead” that aired on March 28 has scattered key members of Rick’s group with six of them getting themselves in a tight fix. Four actually, if Carol and Morgan are not to be counted because it did not show that they were in some sort of any danger. The four, on the other hand, were caught by Dwight and the members of the Saviors, and it also seemed that he might have shot Daryl when the latter turned around to face him.
Major kill in the offing
But it seems unlikely that Daryl will die in “The Walking Dead.” He is the most popular among the characters of the TV series and killing him off will set a major protest from viewers, which they actually promised the showrunners long ago.
The fate of four major characters of “The Walking Dead” hangs in the balance after the close of episode 15. They are Glenn, Rosita, Michonne, and Daryl. They got caught by the Saviors because Daryl went out alone in an attempt to kill Dwight and get even with him.
Any of the four would be on death row during the Season 6 finale because they will eventually be presented to Negan, who will finally show up for the first time in the TV series. Everyone knows that the character is going to be played by the versatile Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
In a recent interview, Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon in the TV series, said that the Season 6 finale will be gut-wrenching and viewers will really mourn because Negan will announce his entrance to the show by making a major kill using Lucille, his baseball bat covered in barbed wire, notes TV Line.
