According to Cartermatt, the show’s winter finale should cover some of those queries. The CW has already released the synopsis for the 15th episode, titled “I Would For You.”
The episode, which will air on March 5, teases that fans will finally get to know the reason why Stefan and Caroline broke up as seen in the flash-forward.
Fans know that Caroline and Alaric together with the twins are now living far away from Mystic Falls three years into the future and that Stefan and Valerie are actually a couple.
In the synopsis, Stefan and Valerie will be in search of a magical herb that they must keep hidden from Rayna.
The younger Salvatore is also going to have a long conversation with Caroline that will lead him to question their future together. Cartermatt reports that Stefan is also going to have to convince Damon to not lock himself inside a coffin out of guilt for burning Elena’s body.
However, as seen in the flash-forward during the season premiere, Stefan wakes Damon from his dark slumber and tells him that Rayna is after them.
In the upcoming season finale, Damon comes up with his own plan to take down the vampire huntress for good. However, Kat Graham’s Bonnie will make a shocking discovery that will put Damon’s plan on the backburner.
