The life-simulation video game “The Sims 4” has been a PC game right from the get-go because the franchise is a PC and Mac game first and foremost.
Since last year, however, developer Maxxis has been saying that it has started laying down the groundwork for the porting of “The Sims 4” to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. This means that the life simulation video game shall come out with a version for the current generation gaming consoles.
However, up until this time, there seems to be very little progress on the porting of the game to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 because Maxxis is saying that “The Sims 4” is a deeply-rooted PC game.
“The Sims 4” was officially released to the PC and the Mac back in September 2014.
Following the timeline of the release of “The Sims 3” on the PC and the Mac back in 2009 which eventually rolled out to the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 about a year and a half later, the ported version of “The Sims 4” should have made it to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One around the first quarter of this year.
Unfortunately, up until now, a fully compatible version of the game to the current generation gaming consoles has yet to come out.
Reports have it that game developer Maxxis and The Sim Studios are struggling to port the game from the PC to the consoles. Due to this technical glitch, the ported version of “The Sims 4” may possibly come out on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 by the end of this year or early in 2017, according to reports.
Doing away with the plan
Of late, however, there are rumors saying that “The Sims 4” being ported to Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 shall no longer be happening as Maxxis and The Sims Studios are said to be working now on the development of “The Sims 5,” obviously the next iteration of the life simulation video game.
Accordingly, the expansion packs and the DLC releases made by Maxxis and game publisher Electronic Arts (EA) on “The Sims 4” over the past few months are meant to divert the gamers’ attention from the real prize – the porting of the game to the current generation gaming consoles, notes the Christian Daily.
In fact, some critics are now saying that there is a likelihood that Maxxis and EA have dropped plans for getting “The Sims 4” on the gaming consoles because they are now working on “The Sims 5” that shall no longer be a PC game but shall be designed specifically for the consoles.
However, this is merely a fan theory and is still subject to the confirmation or denial from either Maxxis or EA. But the logic seems palatable alright and does make sense from the perspective of a game development company.
A new world in the works
Amid reports of the development of “The Sims 5,” there are also rumors saying that a new world is now in the works and shall be coming out soon to “The Sims 4.”
Michael Bierek, an artist, recently posted some concept art of a beach area called Rose Beach. Bierek works for a company called Massive Black, which was previously contracted by EA to work on the concept of “The Sims 4,” details Sims VIP.
However, this new world remains as speculation at this time. There are still no details how and when it will be patched to the game, assuming it is true, but if it is going to be another expansion pack, gamers would really love it.
Incidentally, a new treat has come out recently to the players of “The Sims 4” with the release of “The Sims 4 Dine Out Game Pack” that is now bringing new dining out experiences for the players’ Sims.
The expansion pack enables Sims to own a restaurant, customize it to their liking, and experiment with food.
