The three-episode specials of the American reality TV series “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” did not do well in the ratings during its three-week run at the Bravo network last month.
Titled “The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In,” which aired beginning on October 11, the show had Bravo network officials getting worried for its less-than-expected ratings.
The network producers were said to have been so worried on the spinoff series’ low ratings that they have reportedly entertained the notion that Teresa Giudice may no longer be as popular as before and that she does not have that too many fans anymore, notes the Latin Post.
The producers averred that the spinoff series is the first time in nearly 15 months that fans would be able to finally hear from Teresa while behind bars and on the final months of her 15-month prison sentence at the Danbury Correctional. But the low ratings apparently indicated that fans may no longer be interested.
However, it is possible that fans are already aware that Teresa will not be featured in the spinoff series in her actual self. She was in the spinoff series alright but only through phone calls, which is why some fans decided that the special is almost like Teresa not being there at all.
The spinoff series focuses more on Joe, Teresa’s husband, and their four daughters, trying to cope up with her absence in the household.
Filming at the Danbury Correctional has been disallowed which is likely the reason why fans of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” were hardly interested in the spinoff series. It is possible that to some viewers, watching the TV special would only make them miss Teresa all the more or the series is really not the same without Teresa in it.
Shot at redemption
Teresa is due to complete her sentence on December 23 and filming for Season 7 of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” would have started a few days earlier by then.
Once she checks out of prison, Joe will then begin his 42-month sentence in March also on fraud charges, which is three years and a half.
Reports also have it that Teresa and Joe are planning to have another baby during the time that they will be together after the reality star’s official release next month. This means that the couple has more than three months within which to conceive their fifth child.
According to rumors, Teresa expects to get a huge payoff if she and her husband are able to add to their family of four daughters.
A source close to Teresa said that the reality star has been dreaming of her own reality show about a pregnant mother with four daughters and a husband in prison. It would be an interesting story for the reality show for sure.
The source added that Teresa will then sell the exclusive pictures of the newborn and of Joe seeing the baby in prison to interested persons. Their new child could also generate a couple of baby product endorsements in the process.
Joe appears to be interested in the idea if and when Teresa decides to make a go for it. That would surely be an interesting and major storyline for “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” Season 7.
Reports also have it that Teresa expects to be signed for Season 7 of the TV series for a $2 million contract. In addition to the TV show, Teresa is said to be contemplating of the possibility of her writing a tell-all book about her time in prison.
Ganged up by fans
Meanwhile, contrary to perceptions that Teresa Giudice no longer has that many fans, they actually stepped out in social media recently when Lauren Manzo, daughter of former “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Caroline Manzo, took a swipe at their idol.
Lauren and her mother, who stars in the reality show “Manzo’d With Children” with their family, were actually guests on the show “Watch What Happens Live” on November 1.
