“The Originals” Season 3 has welcomed a new cast member on board, with the entry of Jason Dohring to play the role of new detective Will Kinney. In addition, a new enemy to the Mikaelsons will emerge and the series will likewise introduce a new and exciting plot, that had fans of the popular TV series really excited.
A new arrival to the show will be the character of Will Kinney, a detective who will have no knowledge about the supernatural beings of New Orleans. The new detective, played by Dohring, will join the cast right in the Season 3 premiere. However, while Kinney will have no exact knowledge of the supernatural happenings in New Orleans, he will have a handful of doubts.
The new season of “The Originals” will be hitting the screens on October 8, on The CW. According to TV Fanatic, the new enemy to the family will make them unite again, even after Season 2 ended in a total breakup, but still with a warm scene of affection between Klaus and his daughter Hope. The new enemy to the family is apparently coming to New Orleans after discovering the so-called Mikaelsons’ weakness.
“The Originals” falls under the genre of horror fantasy series and it premiered in April 2013. Having originated from “The Vampire Diaries,” the plot focuses on the Original family, meaning that they are the first to have been created in the line of all existing vampires. The Original family – Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekkah – comes to New Orleans and encounters different enemies in order to become the masters of the city.
According to Ecumenical News, Season 3 will see for the first time the Mikaelsons turned someone into a vampire, as well as their way of coping with their new vampire abilities, after having been turned by Esther.
The series premiered on October 3, 2013. Season 2 started airing on October 6, 2014. It also included a backdoor pilot which revealed that the werewolf Hayley, played by Phoebe Tonkin, would join the cast as being pregnant with Klaus’s child. Seasons 1 and 2 had 22 episodes each, and season 3 is expected to have the same number of episodes.
Apart from vampires, the plot also includes the characters of witches and werewolves. The Mikaelson’s have not returned to New Orleans since 1919 and upon their return, they find that the vampire called Marcel has taken over the city. In their fight to gain power over New Orleans, the Mikaelsons not only have to fight the vampire in charge, but they also have to protect their interests in the time of war between the witches, werewolves, and vampires.
“The Originals” have also received their web series adaptations under the name “The Originals: The Awakening.” The plot of the web series follows the character of Kol Mikaelson, who is in search for a union with the French Quarter witches.
Set in 1914, the web series explores the conflicting relationship of Kol Mikaelson, played by Nathaniel Buzolic, with his siblings. The episodes are about a few minutes long and they serve to shed some light to Kol’s background story. All four “The Originals: The Awakening” web series were directed by Matt Hastings.
