The Incredibles 2 to Come Out in 2019 and Join the 400 Billion Superhero Movie Franchises, Jokes Director Brad Bird!

The sequel to the 2004 animated hit “The Incredibles” has been confirmed by Disney Pictures as early as March last year.

Subsequently, Brad Bird was confirmed as Director for the sequel of the original film which he also helmed.

The next thing that was confirmed was its playdate of June 21, 2019 in October when Disney Pictures unraveled its complete movie release date calendar from 2016 to 2020.

And the fourth to be confirmed, courtesy of Director Brad Bird, is the entry of award-winning composer Michael Giacchino, who also composed the score for “The Incredibles.”

It was actually Director Bird who announced last month on social media the entry of Giacchino to write the score of “The Incredibles 2.” For his part, Giacchino also posted on Twitter by saying that he is looking forward to being back in business with Mr. I and Family, referring to Mr. Incredibles and his superhero family, details Collider.

Bird and Giacchino have recently worked together also on Disney’s “Tomorrowland” shown a few months ago. But the composer has been real busy as of late. He has scored some of the latest blockbusters including “Jurassic World” and “Inside Out.” He is still working on providing the score for “Zootopia” also for Disney, and “Star Trek Beyond.”

The main difference

When asked about the difference between the preparation for “The Incredibles” more than 10 years ago to the pre-production work for the upcoming “The Incredibles 2,” Bird said that when the first movie came out in 2004, there were only two superhero movie franchises at that time.

He pointed out that the two other superhero film franchises then were “X-Men” and “Spider-Man.” Bird exaggerated that now, there are 400 billion of them and there’s a new superhero movie every two weeks.

But instead of being bothered by the influx of competing superhero films, he said that they will try to keep “The Incredibles 2” focused in the area that the first film centered on, which is a little bit more about characters and relationships and stuff like that.

Bird also said that above all, they intend to have a good time while making the movie.

Working on the script

The director also disclosed that he is about 75% through in writing the script for “The Incredibles 2.”

It will be Bird’s first animated film since “Ratatouille” shown in 2007. He has spent the last few years working on movies like “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” the fourth film of the franchise, and “Tomorrowland,” notes Screen Crush.

In a recent interview, Bird said that despite the booming state of superhero movies based on comic books, “The Incredibles 2” will be different from the current crop because it will have one aspect that shall make it special and that is the element of family.

In the same interview, the writer and director also said that he already has the story arc for “The Incredibles 2.” He also said that he just made a first pass through the script and that they were already boarding parts of it. He also disclosed that he has a lot of people who worked on the first movie, also working on the sequel and they are having a good time doing it at the moment.

After the D23 Expo held in August in Anaheim, California, speculations on the release date of the “The Incredibles 2” started coming out as a result of the hint given by John Lasseter, head of Pixar Animation.

In an interview with reporters during the event, Lasseter confirmed that Brad Bird will return to direct “The Incredibles 2” and also revealed that the director has already found a great story for the sequel.

The Pixar chief said then that since Brad Bird has finished his work on “Tomorrowland,” he and the people from Pixar are already developing the story, but he cannot say anything more beyond that.
