With the showing of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” just around the corner, there have been talks of solo movies for the Marvel superheroes in the film.
Of course, the big three Marvel superheroes like Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor is no longer new to solo movies as they have proven their mettle in the box office already. In fact, Captain America and Thor have upcoming 3rd solo movies but Iron Man has yet to be confirmed for a 4th movie thus far.
Marvel has already lined up a movie for Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson, and if reports are to be believed, possibly another one on Doctor Strange, starring British actor Benedict Cumberbatch. Doctor Strange will have a cameo appearance on “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” according to previous reports.
It seems odd that one of the biggies in the film, The Hulk, is still without a film or a planned film that is.
While there have been two movies about The Hulk in the past starring Eric Bana and Edward Norton, those were not from the Marvel Studios per se and as such, the studio has yet to have a reboot of the Hulk based on its cinematic universe.
Planet Hulk
But Mark Ruffalo hinted that Marvel Studios may indeed be planning something for the gigantic green man as reports have been swirling around that a “Planet Hulk” movie may be in the works sometime in the future, notes IGN.
Ruffalo said that it would be ‘dream come true’ for him if he again gets to play The Hulk in a solo movie, even if it means that the setting of the film is in outer space, alluding to talks about “Planet Hulk.”
The actor confirmed the talks about the Hulk going into space and he says he is very much interested in doing and entertaining that. But he said that he has not been into serious talks with Marvel Studio executives about it.
Not in the works
As early as July last year, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios head, debunked reports that the outfit is planning a “Planet Hulk” movie anytime soon.
Feige also explained how difficult it would be for the studio to adapt such storyline for the film. Despite the denial, rumors and speculations about the Hulk leaping into a solo movie set in outer space continues to persist.
For Mark Ruffalo, he appears to be game with the idea that is why the conversation and talks about it still continue. It could be that the plans of Marvel Studios have already changed since July last year and that the solo “Planet Hulk” movie may get to be unwrapped very soon.
With the expanding of the Marvel cinematic universe, the possibilities for “Planet Hulk” movie as well as other type of storylines are just limitless so it is no longer a question of how or what but actually when and who.
