And the premise as a whole was seen as quite original and deserving of more exploration. Maybe the specific formula that “The Following” was being produced under didn’t work out quite that well, and the show could have had some inherent problems behind the scenes that we never knew about.
But if that was the case, the producers would have likely said something, as many people are still speculating about the exact reason for the production’s cancellation. It would at least put many fans’ minds at ease if they found out the true motivation behind the end of their favorite show.
Hopefully the network is at least going to fill up the slot with something equally exciting, as this is a common problem for popular TV shows – it’s one thing to take down a production that’s enjoyed by a lot of people, but adding something else in its place that’s designed in a different style can be a bit more insulting to the original fans.
There seems to be some rearranging going on in this TV network’s schedule right now. And while some hopeful fans are still holding on to the idea that another network might show interest in the show at the last minute and pick it up for season 4, it’s probably best to put those hopes to rest right now and focus on finding a substitute show.
