Joel Fields, one of the showrunners for “The Americans”, recently decided to give his fans some details about the upcoming fourth season of the show, and things are starting to shape up in a very interesting way. With about two months to go before the new season hits the screen, fans have been getting more and more excited to learn details about it, and it’s starting to look like a very solid installment in the show, probably even better than what we saw in the last two seasons.
The clock is ticking and March 16 is getting closer and closer, and it’s good to see that Joel Fields is so open to sharing information with his fans at this time, as people have been speculating about the future a lot recently, and as we know very well, these speculations can actually be harmful for the future of a production if they are not addressed in a reasonable period of time. If fans are allowed to discuss certain rumors for too long, this could end up reflecting on the show itself in a very negative way when their expectations are not met with the new episodes.
A lot of issues are coming up on the front of the show for different characters, especially Paige and her family, after she made the revelation about the true nature of her parents. This has put all of them in severe danger and it sounds like season 4 is going to focus a lot on how the family will manage to survive and stay together after these events. It’s been implied that the things we saw in the last season could have some long-lasting repercussions on certain characters of the show, and that would certainly make sense given the gravity of the situation.
Fields seems to be fond of this part of the plot as he discussed it in some detail during his talk with the press, but on the other hand he was a bit more reluctant to talk about Agent Nina and her own fate, after she was captured and sent off to Russia. She may or may not ever return from her incarceration, and while some fans have been hopeful to see her coming back, it sounds like the possibility of that is somewhat slim right now.
All in all, it was implied that the new season of the show is going to focus on slightly different developments, and that might not be exactly what fans were looking to hear, as many were interested in the story behind Agent Nina and her capture. But knowing the style of the showrunners behind “The Americans”, we wouldn’t put it past them to actually be preparing something more unusual for the character and are intentionally keeping their fans in the dark in order to make the surprise hit even harder. It would also make sense given the premise of the show and the overall context of its story.
There have also been some worrying rumors among fans of the show regarding future installments, as some seem convinced that the network might soon be looking to take it off the air. Currently, there is a strong interest in the production from its fans, and ratings also seem quite good in general, so we don’t see a real reason for the show to be taken down just yet, but we never know what might be going on behind the scenes of FX.
