‘Tekken 7’ Rumored to Feature a Cross-Play Between Gaming Consoles; Find Out More

Bandai Namco’s “Tekken 7” is highly rumored to feature a cross-play for the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and the PC.

Cross-play is the ability of a video game with an online gaming component that allows players using different gaming hardware to play with one another simultaneously.

Cross system online play is becoming one of the things that players prefer right now. “Street Fighter” and “Killer Instinct” have already integrated the feature into their gameplays.

According to Tech News Today, the benefit of allowing a cross-play platform for “Tekken 7” is the increase in online traffic for the fighting game.

Players have also been clamoring for the cross-play feature to happen so they can interact with other players all over the world using different gaming consoles.

“Tekken 7: Fated Retribution” game designer Michael Murray recently said that the decision of a cross-play feature will depend on Sony.

Answering a fan on Twitter, Murray explained that Microsoft had already said that they are interested in the platform and the question should be directed to Sony.

As per PlayStation Universe, Sony is still thinking about incorporating the cross-play feature into their consoles.

Although they have opened doors to PC users in the past with games such as “Final Fantasy VIX: A Realm Reborn” and “Street Fighter V,” they are still deciding if they should open their doors as well for Xbox One players.

Players of both gaming consoles are now asking that Microsoft and Sony will come to an agreement for the benefit of many players.

“Tekken 7” is set to launch in early 2017 but no exact date has been given yet. The game had a limited arcade release in Japan in February 2015. An updated version was released exclusively in Japan last July.

The upcoming game is the ninth installment in the popular franchise and the first to make use of the Unreal Engine.

It’s also the first game in the series that will be made available on PC download by Steam. This will definitely increase the number of “Tekken” players around the world.

Game producer Katsuhiro Harada confirmed that the game will bring a conclusion to the Mishima clan saga. He adds that the game’s story will be darker than ever before.

Harada says that the game will be much closer in tone to “Tekken 4” and will provide answers regarding the feud between Heihachi Mishima, his son Kayuza Mishima, and his grandson Jin Kazama.

A trailer for the game was released in July 2014 which introduced a backstory regarding Heihachi’s wife, Kazumi Mishima, whom he killed years prior to the events of the game.

“Street Fighter” resident antagonist Akuma was announced to be a guest character and will play a vital role in the story.

Two new characters will also come back to the game’s roster. Bob and Master Raven will be returning to the highly-anticipated game.

Bob has been present in the series since its birth and has been a fan-favorite so it’s not a surprise that the well-rounded character return.

Master Raven is rumored to be related to the original Raven, who appeared in “Tekken 5.” It appears though that Master Raven will take his place as Raven is absent in the latest iteration.

The game will also have several changes in its gameplay. The game features a “Rage Drive” which allows players to empower certain attacks by sacrificing their Rage Mode.

Rage Art is also adjusted so that the amount of damage dealt with the enemy is inversely proportional to the player’s current health bar.

Also, ardent players will happy to know that the game will also bring back its favorite mini-game “Tekken Bowl.” It allows players to play a “Tekken” themed bowling tournament with the games’ characters.
