Sword Art Online Season 3 Now in Jeopardy as Anime Publisher Gives Green Light to Live-Action TV Series Version in the US

There is still hope for Season 3

Amid the gloomy outlook for “Sword Art Online” Japanese anime, some fans are still hopeful that there will be a Season 3 for their favorite Japanese anime.

They believe that the live-action version TV series of “Sword Art Online” is meant for the US and other Western markets but the original Japanese anime is intended for its home market in Japan and also in other parts of Asia.

They are also confident that the release of the Japanese anime movie in February next year would all the more heighten the need for a Season 3 of “Sword Art Online” since its storyline would basically be a continuation of Season 2 and that Season 3 could pick up from where the storyline in the movie leaves off.

The Japanese anime TV series is being produced by Tokyo MX and neither the Japanese producer or Skydance Television has announced that there would be a Season 3 or not of “Sword Art Online,” so all information about the anime is mere speculation at this time, notes Game & Guide.

“Sword Art Online” is a Japanese manga, which was adapted into an anime series in July 2012. The anime series ran for two seasons.

After becoming a hit sensation among both anime fans and gamers, “Sword Art Online” has ventured into several spin-offs and gaming platforms. Its latest installment is the new Japanese animated film, “Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale,” which will feature new characters as well as the old ones.
