Weiss seems to have moved on from the initial disappointment she got when Freeform announced last March that Season 5 is going to be the last for “Switched at Birth.”
It was also a double-whammy for the TV series because apart from its cancellation after the fifth season, the network also decided to push back its Season 5 premiere supposedly from last month to next year.
She wrote on Twitter that Season 5 of “Switched at Birth” will air next year and the ending will be incredible. She said that fans will see the show’s final 10 stories and how it will send off the main characters.
The showrunner also said that she could not have possibly scripted a perfect ending and it was because of all the people who made it all happen, describing it as a little piece of magic.
Weiss also confirmed that Season 5 of “Switched at Birth” will see the show’s main characters continuing their adventures in college.
The showrunner said that she thought that time jump was unnecessary, which was the same strategy employed by its fellow teen series on Freeform “Pretty Little Liars.” Thus, there will still be a lot of experiences that the girls will face as students and as young adults in the fifth and final season of “Switched at Birth.”
