‘Super Smash Bros 4’ Next Character to Be Officially Known After October 3!

There is currently an ongoing poll on the popular fighting game “Super Smash Bros 4” on Nintendo Wii U and 3DS asking gamers on who they think should become the next character for the video game.

The voting is open until October 3 and surprisingly, reports late last month came out that Professor Layton from the “Professor Layton” puzzle game on Nintendo DS and 3DS, will be next character that shall join the roster of fighters in “Super Smash Bros 4.”

Since the game was launched in April, there have been four new characters that came to the game via DLC and they are Mewtwo from “Pokemon,” Lucas from “Mother 3,” Roy from “Fire Emblem,” and Ryu from “Street Fighter.”

Rumors started swirling around about Professor Layton becoming the next character fighter for “Super Smash Bros 4” when Christopher Robin Miller, the English voice actor for Professor Layton of the similarly-titled video games, came out on the IMDB page of the game for the 3DS and Wii U, details the Christian Today.

Miller’s name has since been taken down from the Wii U IMDB page, but it still exist on the 3DS page as of end-August.

Subsequently, somebody asked Miller on Twitter if it’s true that Professor Layton was coming to “Super Smash Bros 4” and he confirmed that the report is not true. However, shortly thereafter, he tweeted again another message saying that his body could not contain the hype, insinuating that his puzzle game character may indeed be coming to the game.

To further add to the confusion, Miller made a third tweet saying that there is no official confirmation yet that Professor Layton will be coming to “Super Smash Bros 4” and that he will update everyone once he has the right information.

Fighter ballot

While the “Super Smash Bros 4” has received character DLCs in recent months, critics believe that the most important recent addition to the game is the Fighter Ballot developed by game director Masahiro Sakurai.

The Fighter Ballot actually asks fans to vote for the character whom they would like to see included in the popular fighting game. While its results are not normally available, the feature is actually a reminder to gamers that there is still time to request their favorite characters to be included in the game.

The Fighter Ballot was introduced in April during the Direct. In addition to legacy characters like Mewtwo from “Pokemon” and Lucas, “Super Smash Bros 4” gamers could actually see in theory that anyone they want can be the next challenger in the game.

However, they should bear in mind that the Fighter Ballot has a deadline of October 3, 2015. But players can vote as many times as they want until October 3. They can likewise vote for third-party characters however, they should be video game characters only. They should also be made aware that the surprise return of Roy and Ryu to the fighting game is not ballot-related.

Thus, it is likely that the next character addition to the game will be known after October 3 when all the votes are in and counted a few days thereafter.

Balancing the skills of fighting characters

Nintendo has released patch 1.1.0 on its popular fighting game “Super Smash Bros” on July 31 and the update brought a lot of changes and improvements to game much to the delight of gamers.

The more high-profile changes that the update brought forth included the Mii costumes for K. Rool, Chrom, K.K. Slider, and many others, new stages including Miiverse and N64 levels, a Tourney mode, and the ability to upload replays to YouTube.

However, the most interesting changes that it made were on the characters or fighters of the video game. Although it cannot be seen outright but the improvements on the characters meant more balance for the game and sort of level the playing field in the fighting roster.
