Aaron Korsh, showrunner of the American legal drama TV series “Suits” on the USA Network, says that the last six episodes of Season 5 of the show to air early next year will be a course-changer.
Episode 11 of Season 5 of “Suits” will air on January 17 after several months of hiatus following the airing of its first 10 episodes up to August 26.
Korsh revealed that he and the production team thought about a time jump for the second half of the season, but they eventually discarded the idea. Thus, episode 11 will pick up immediately after episode 10 when Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams, was discovered to be a fraud.
While viewers already know that Mike is not really a lawyer way back in Season 1, only a few knows his secret so when his cover was blown during episode 10 of Season 5, the biggest question was who turned him in.
The showrunner revealed that episode 11 of “Suits” is aptly titled “Blowback” and he says that it is a good thematic title for the last six episodes of Season 5, saying that those are course-changers for the TV series, details the Franchise Herald.
On the hot seat
Korsh said that Mike is on the hot seat and everybody else in the back six. He revealed that they have been planning the plot about Mike being on the wrong end of the law for several seasons already and it was only during the episode 10 of Season 5 that they have decided to drop it to the viewers.
The series creator also narrated that there was a real-life woman who had been a lawyer for a lot longer than Mike Ross, and it turns out she did not go to law school. The woman got caught after 10 years and Korsh found it really interesting how she was able to get away with the fraud longer than Mike was.
The showrunner revealed that in the wake of Mike’s arrest for conspiracy to commit fraud, he will be at the center of an investigation led by a ruthless government prosecutor, Assistant US Attorney Anita Gibbs, to be played by Leslie Hope, which threatens to bring down the whole law firm.
The biggest question still is who turned in the con lawyer. Korsh said that it could be anybody, it could have been a friend, a foe, a neutral party or someone who has never even met Mike.
He disclosed that he and the production guys went through the whole gamut and finally decided on someone whom he liked. And that would be the biggest reveal in the next six episodes of “Suits” when it returns to the USA Network on January 17.
A boy genius with a great memory
Mike Ross had always played his cards right as a supposed lawyer. He had always maintained that he had graduated from Harvard with a law degree. But as viewers already know, Mike was just a boy genius with a great memory and a penchant for talking his way out of sticky situations, details the Day Herald.
Harvey Spectre, played by Gabriel Macht, was aware of Mike’s secret long ago but since it is out, he can no longer do anything about it. That’s in addition to the fact that Harvey is also trying to cope up with his relationship with Donna, played by Sarah Rafferty, who left his service after confessing her feelings for him.
While viewers have plenty of speculations and two-cent worth of opinion on who could the whistleblower be, Aaron Korsh says that the identity of the person who turned Mike in would really shock viewers and they will know it in the remaining six episodes of Season 5.
But Korsh made his disclosure up to that point only and refused to further divulge further details about the second half of Season 5 of the very popular and widely-followed “Suits.”
The series creator and writer, however, confirmed initial reports that Season 5 of “Suits” will be evenly distributed between Mike Ross and Harvey Specter.
The first eight episodes did focus on Harvey and his faltering relationship with Donna including his resignation from the Pearson Specter Litt law firm.
I really like Suits and all of its characters. And I HATE that Mike is in danger. I am looking forward to learning that Anita Gibbs is after Harvey because he broke her heart (or her sister’s) years ago, and this is the first time she has found a chink in his armor. Or, that she is taking bribes to get rid of him. I don’t care which scenario it is, it just needs to be revealed that Mike is but a tool to harming Harvey…but the personal nature of her attack gets her fired and disbarred. SOON!!! I hate that she is going after everyone around Harvey…and, I repeat, I am looking forward to seeing her disgraced and disbarred. I do not want to have to wait for the entire second half of the series, either. GET RID OF HER, NOW!!! i WATCH TV TO BE ENTERTAINED, NOT STRESSED OUT. THIS IS STRESSING ME OUT!!!
