It’s coming soon, now there’s no good reason to avoid 5.02. It’s a great OS version without any downside.

Salim there is currently a lollipop 5.1 OTA update for the moto g 2nd Gen Google play edition only as far as I’m aware. All other models are either in soak test mode or waiting.
No you shouldn’t have to go to 5.0 to go to 5.1. Stick with 4.4.4 it’s more stable. If you really want 5.1 you could try the guides to rooting and flashing your device from xda at your own risk.
