Stephen Curry Makes His Game Speaks for Himself in His Desire to Win the Regular Season MVP

Three players in the current NBA season are looking to cop the prestigious MVP plum at the close of the regular season next week. They are LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers, James Harden of the Houston Rockets, and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

Although based on actual gameplay, it still looks as if LeBron James is still the most dominating player in the game, but statistically, the MVP race is down to James Harden and Stephen Curry.

The No.1 vote-getter during the NBA All Stars, Stephen Curry once again proved that he deserves the MVP award with a scintillating shooting performance in the game against Portland Trailblazers on April 9 where he eclipsed his own three-point shooting record in the league.

Curry made eight three pointers en route to a 45-point performance and 116-105 trumping of the Blazers as the Warriors secured homecourt advantage all throughout the playoffs with its 64-15 win-loss record, and three more games left in its plate.

Record-breaking season

Stephen Curry entered the game with 268 three pointers, four shy of his own mark and NBA-best 272, which he set two seasons ago in the final game against, ironically, the Portland Trailblazers.

He hit a total of eight during the game, setting the new NBA record of three points made in one season at 276. The thing is, Golden State Warriors still have three more games remaining so Stephen Curry will definitely add on to the record.

Curry made six three-pointers during the first half alone as he teamed up with ‘Splash Brothers’ partner Klay Thompson to bring back the Warriors into the game from 13 points down early in the second quarter.

The Warriors point guard finished the game on superb 17 of 23 shooting including 8 of 13 from the three-point area. His performance had Golden State Warriors co-owner salivating over the statistics and simply remarking how unbelievable Curry’s game was, notes Yahoo! News.

An MVP performance

Curry’s performance was also complimented by Blazers All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge who said that it was obvious that Steph wants to be MVP but instead of merely saying it, he lets his game speaks for his desire.

During the post-game press conference, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said that Stephen Curry does not speak about becoming an MVP but they all know he wants it.

Curry added 10 assists to his game against Portland, making him only the first Warrior player to score at least 45 points and 10 assists in a game since Latrell Sprewell did it back in 1997 or 18 years ago.

The win enabled the Warriors to avoid getting its first taste of a three-game losing streak this season. Klay Thompson said that Stephen Curry is the Warriors MVP so he should also be the one for the league.
