The Verge reported that the television will only be 2.57 mm in thickness and will contain LG’s revolutionary OLED pixel dimming technology which makes perfect black possible. The company confirmed that the technology would also prevent leakage of light and control the contrast ratio for beautiful colors. LG will get WebOS to power their TV.
BGR reported that the LG television is 2.57 mm thick and to put the size into perspective added that the average pencil is 6 mm and 7 mm in thickness, while the thinnest smartphone, Moto Z is 5.2 mm thick.
LG’s television will also have the Dolby Atmos soundbar, located at the bottom of the TV. Following Sony’s footsteps, LG too hasn’t announced any subsidiary information about release date and pricing. PC Advisor reported that the television is available for pre-orders in the US and the 65 inches’ model is priced at $7,999.
Panasonic’s EZ1002 4K OLED is the first television set that is capable of HDR and supports professional grade image processing. The Absolute Black Filter ensures the richest black and reduces reflection. There hasn’t been any official announcement about the pricing.
