CES is always the place go-to place for televisions, and 2017 CES wasn’t any difference. This year saw LG, Sony, and Samsung fighting it out in the segment. CES usually brings in unusual electronic items into the consumers’ radar, and this year different companies came in with their version of the 4K HD TVs.
While Sony, Samsung, and LG were expected to make a mark in the world of televisions, Xiaomi was a surprise player in this product category. Tech Times reported that one of the best TVs revealed at CES 2017 was Xiaomi Mi TV 4.
Xiaomi Mi TV 4 is a modular super-thin television, with a thickness of 4.9mm. It is almost bezel-less and according to Xiaomi, thinner than the iPhone 7. The Mi TV comes with a new software called patch wall. It has two wireless speakers, a subwoofer apart from 10 speakers. The television will also come with the Dolby Atmos surround sound effect.
Xiaomi Mi TV 4 is available in three different sizes- 49, 55 and 65 inches. The television will be launched in China in the second half of 2017. Xiaomi hasn’t promised any date yet, and they have been pretty quiet about the price for the same.
However, Hugo Barra, the CEO of Xiaomi informed interested buyers that the 65-inch television would be priced below $1500 if it comes with the Dolby Atmos feature. The Dolby Atmos enabled televisions will be priced below $2000.
The other TV that created a ripple at the CES 2017 is the XBR-A1E Bravia 4K OLED TV by Sony. The company promised that television would have vibrant, lifelike color, with never-before-seen black level. The television will also have amazing contrast with no blur images. XBR-A1E Bravia will also have a wide-angle viewing for a better TV watching experience.
Sony is known for amazing products. They are about to deliver an excellent piece of innovation to their customers with the 4K HDR TV. Mike Fasulo, the COO of Sony said that Sony promises to provide a great mix of image processing and technology.
Sony’s XBR-A1E Bravia will run Android TV like the other variants. Viewers will also have the ability to control Google Home speakers and download different streaming applications from the Play Store. The Android TV will help them cast content to their Android-powered smartphones and tablets.
Sony is bringing out the XBR-A1E Bravia in three different sizes as well. It will come in 55 inches, 65 inches and finally 77 inches. The television will be super thin once again since Sony has decided to remove all the components of the television to the stand that will support the display.
Consumers know that Sony doesn’t produce their OLED screen. They get LG Displays to manufacture them, but Sony didn’t mention anything about the makers of their OLED displays. Sony is completely quiet about the pricing for the product and hasn’t made any official announcement on the expected release date for the same.
The OLEDs manufactured by LG are priced at $2,500 for the 55 inches and almost $20,000 for the 77 inches OLED. This price bracket helps put into perspective the price for Sony’s new Bravia.
The other television that appealed to the consumers at the CES 2017 is the Signature OLED 4K HDR W TV series by LG. The TV will appear like a picture on the wall, and the “W” in the name stands for “wallpaper.” The television can be installed on the wall using a magnetic mounting system and makes sure it provides a flush finish.
