It seems as if the writers considered Ichabod as the lead protagonist while Abbie as an important but not necessarily vital element. There are reports or rumors going around that Ichabod shall be tracking down someone who inherits Abbie’s job as the Witness come Season 4 but Nicole Beharie shall no longer be around for that, which makes everything look absurd, according to critics.
As it is, the same critics believe that the only logical explanation for the nonsense of “Sleepy Hollow” Season 3 killing off Abbie Mills is the fact that the episode was supposed to be some kind of unofficial series finale.
They say that Abbie’s sacrifice in the series finale episode is just too random to be justifiable. Having the plot of the Pandora’s box needing a Witness to power it is plausible but it also raises a question of how Abbie was able to get it running in the first place.
Season 3 of “Sleepy Hollow” wanted to go out on a high note but it failed miserably after killing off its heroine. It is a disappointing conclusion for Season 3, which makes fans and critics hardly getting excited for a possible Season 4 of the TV series.
It’s hard to blame the fans and critics to think that way since losing Abbie in the series is like parting away with half of the show. Fans are now wondering what the producers and showrunner were thinking in doing such during the Season 3 finale.
Nicole had ASKED to leave the show. And because of the nature of the show, the only way to make her absence make any sense was to kill off her character. Granted they didn’t write it well AT ALL, but the actual decision to kill Abbie off was not a creative one. Nicole wanted out. I agree there should be no season four, but it’s not because Abbie was killed off. It’s because the writers and showrunner are absolutely horrible at their jobs and if Nicole gets to move on from their idiocy, Tom should be able to as well.

I still love the show Sleepy Hollow. The first season was awesome. The second season good,but, got tiring with the Crane squabbles. Katrina just wasn’t a good character. The third season was just soooo different. It was missing something the whole time. I hated losing Abbie but that doesn’t mean I don’t have hope for it. I want it to come back. I think Tom Mison is an amazing Ichabod. I just miss his little modern day discoveries. He already knew too much in the third season. A lot of the fun was gone. But, he is still an amazing character and I think there is so much hope for it to come back and have a great season 4 if they can just get some great writers on board. Killing off Abbie was not a good thing but Nicole Beharie did want to leave . what else could they do..other than replace her. Please bring it back. I will always watch it,but, yeah this last season was a little boring and was missing some magic that it once had.

I LOVE SLEEPY HOLLOW AND WILL BE VERY UPSET TO NOT HAVE A SEASON 4. Abbie can still play a very important part in Crane’s part and Pandora could have lied. Who knows the twist that they can come up and I am looking forward to
