Season 3 of the American supernatural drama TV series “Sleepy Hollow” will premiere on Fox on October 1 and based on the teasers of the show, Ichabod Crane, played by Tom Mison, and Abbie Mills, played by Nicole Beharie, will be facing new villains.
During Season 2, Ichabod killed his wife, Katrina Crane, played by Katia Winter, during their epic final showdown, picking his demon-slaying partner instead of Katrina, notes MNR Daily.
As the TV series is the modern-day adaptation of the 1820 Halloween short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” the headless horseman is also a central character.
However, the headless horseman, played by Neil Jackson during the first two seasons of the TV series, will no longer be around for Season 3. In his place will be a new main villain that will pose an even bigger threat to the partnership of Ichabod and Abbie.
More new villains
In addition to the new main villain, Season 3 of “Sleepy Hollow” will also usher more new antagonists that the duo will have to do battle with. In fact, reports are now rife saying that the first villain that Ichabod and Abbie will have to deal with is the notorious serial killer Jack the Ripper while the second villain is known as Abyzou.
Apparently, Abyzou is a tooth fairy that is not anything like the ones people tell their children about. The third villain that they will have to contend with is a Draugar, a battalion of undead British soldiers who return to Sleepy Hollow under the order of a General Howe.
Season 3 will be full excitement as Ichabod and Abbie work together on certain cases involving unorthodox criminals. In one of the pictures serving as teasers to the show, Ichabod and Abbie have similar haircuts.
One of the crimes that they were working on, according to the image tease, appears to be the work of a certain headless fiend roaming the town so it is possible that only hints of the Headless Horseman will be in the show’s third season and not his presence.
Support from friends
Season 3 will also feature the return of Ichabod’s old friends like Joe Corbin, played by Zach Appelman, and Jenny Mills, played by Lyndie Greenwood, in Sleepy Hollow to lend support to Ichabod and Abbie in their fight against the town’s new villains, notes the Christian Post.
“Sleepy Hollow” will also see some new additions to the cast members come Season 3 including actress Shannyn Sossamon as Pandora, Nikki Reed as Betsy Ross, and Lance Gross as Daniel Reynolds, the new boss of Abbie.
As her character name implies, Shannyn Sossamon will appear in the second episode of Season 3 titled “Whispers in the Dark” where she will open a box that will unleash a sinister evil, alluding to the proverbial Pandora’s Box. Reports also have it that Pandora may be the biggest bad in “Sleepy Hollow” Season 3.
Meanwhile, Cliffton Campbell has replaced Mark Goffman as showrunner of “Sleepy Hollow” after the show has been renewed for Season 3.
Campbell will certainly infuse the show with new ideas in order to enhance the direction of the show and give it new and exciting storylines.
To show how innovative his new ideas are, Campbell is reportedly working on a crossover with the hit series “Bones” during Season 3 of “Sleepy Hollow.” But that crossover episode will not happen in the early episodes of Season 3 but around next year when both shows hit their mid-season, notes Campbell.
Fans are really hoping that Campbell could come up with compelling stories to ensure that the show will last for more years, even though it is merely based on a Halloween short story.
