Given the fad of hydrogen vehicles, Arnold Schwarzenegger has joined the list of hydrogen fueled vehicles. The movie star and former California governor selected a hydrogen-fueled Hummer H2. The star has always had a liking towards big military vehicles, but the Hummer H2 also helps him extend a helping hand to the environment.
According to Green Car Reports, Schwarzenegger has decided to bring in another big and eco-friendly vehicle. Apart from the Hummer H2, he has purchased a Mercedes-Benz G-Class vehicle that has converted to electric power.
Kreisel Electric is an Australian firm that specializes in electric powertrains. The company has been founded by the Kreisel brothers, Markus, Philipp, and Johann. The company converts cars into electric vehicles as part of their business criteria.
The converted Mercedes-Benz G-Class was gifted to Schwarzenegger as part of the promotion. With the actor and former Governor driving the car around in Los Angeles, it will go a long way in making a mark for the new company.
The vehicle that Kreisel Electric has gifted Schwarzenegger is a prototype vehicle that the company is still developing. The car keeps the traditional frame of the G-Class. The Mercedes was primarily produced for the German military, but deluxe versions of the same have increasingly appealed to the wealthy, and they have lavishly showcased the vehicle in their collection.
Yahoo! News reported that Kreisel Electric realized that the Mercedes-Benz G-Class gives terrible fuel economy. They tried to work on this, and the obvious decision was to rework the G350d diesel model.
The company subsequently removed the engine and the transmission and replaced them with a pair of powerful electric motors. The revamped electric car has a battery capacity of 80 kilowatt-hours. Kreisel located the battery in the G-Class model beneath the hood of the car and the rear.
After Kreisel Electric replaced the fuel engine with electric motors, the power of the vehicle has gone up to 482 hp from 245 hp. Reports suggest that the car will have the same off-road ability as the original G-Class. This would be a relief for those thinking of going for the environment-friendly version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
Now comes the news that will disappoint many. Those looking to purchase the electric Mercedes-Benz G-Class will meet disappointment since Kreisel Electric confirmed that they would not build any more electric version of the G-Class. However, they will now look to remodel other fuel vehicles.
Moving on to other news on Schwarzenegger, the actor, and former Governor has joined the other celebrities to speak out about President Trump. Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice is now hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and he has openly come out to criticize the move to ban immigrants from the United States.
Schwarzenegger didn’t mince words when he spoke against the decision. The Washington Post reported that the former Governor of California said that the executive order to ban the immigrants from entering the USA was badly vetted and ended up making the country look stupid.
Schwarzenegger was an immigrant once upon a time and was, in fact, a green-card holder. Schwarzenegger had first come to the US when he was 21 years old. Given his history, he took the decision personally and said that he could understand what was going through the minds of those who are affected by the decision.
While talking in an interview, Schwarzenegger said that the White House made the whole country look stupid since they weren’t prepared to deal with the executive order and didn’t know how to implement it.
