Even though the Galaxy line of smartphones by Samsung has been moderately successful, each new entry in it was less and less innovative compared to the last one, and with the decrease in innovation, the company also started to lose the brand’s popularity. And now, there are rumors that the new Samsung Galaxy S6 will be a major improvement over the S5, as the company is reportedly trying to win back a strong position on the market.
It’s not officially known what exactly the device will include yet – but there are certainly plenty of rumors, and some actually sound quite credible. Samsung are reportedly trying even harder to compete with Apple’s iPhone now, and they’re planning major improvements in not only the internal hardware of the device, but its external components as well – most notably the display.
One of the most prominent rumors about the device describes a dual-sided curved display. The idea seems to be similar to the Galaxy Note Edge, just mirrored on the opposite side as well. It’s not known what kinds of features will be added to the side screens, and there are certainly plenty of possibilities. Some have been criticizing the Galaxy Note Edge for its relatively uninspiring implementation of the side screen, and Samsung seem to have been keeping an eye on those comments, and are trying to improve the situation in the S6.
It’s also expected that the S6 will feature either a quad-core or an octa-core processor, and it will likely be a 64-bit one. This is a serious component for a smartphone, and while it’s good to know that the Galaxy S6 will be able to run anything on the Android market easily, Samsung have hopefully considered the device’s battery life carefully. Combined with the rumored high-resolution screen, this could make the new smartphone a very power-hungry beast, and smartphone users have been growing more and more pretentious towards the battery capabilities of their devices. Having to charge a smartphone every day is becoming less acceptable nowadays.
If even half of the major rumors about the Galaxy S6 are true, it could turn out to be a very serious device, and a major game changer in the Android market. Of course, Samsung have quite the strong competition nowadays as well, and they shouldn’t underestimate the alternative powerful offers from other companies, such as HTC. If the price of the new Galaxy phone is good, however, it could very easily win a stable place on the market, and earn Samsung an even stronger reputation among Android users. Interested users have been hopeful that Samsung will stick to the same price line.
