Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ Brightness and Boldness Make the Phablet a Thing to Behold!

Samsung has redeemed itself well from the debacle that was the Galaxy S5 launched in March last year with the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge unveiled in March this year which hit the markets one month later to a great reception.

Apparently, in preparation for the coming of the latest smartphones from Apple last month, Samsung tried to beat the American tech giant to the draw by launching another flagship phablet late in August, known as the Galaxy S6 Edge+.

While it is essentially not an upgrade to the Galaxy S6 Edge, the high-end phablet came out fast, slick, and dripping with features. It also offers plenty of capabilities to make it a desirable device in its own right, cites V3.co.uk.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ was actually meant to rival the latest flagship phablet of Apple, the iPhone 6S Plus, which came out some two weeks later and really made the competition in the segment a lot better.

Big and bright display screen

One of the most obvious physical attributes of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is its vast 5.7-inch screen but rounded display that has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 which ensures an ultra-sharp 518 pixels per inch density.

With such specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is easily one of the very best phablets in the market today.

The phablet’s sheer brightness and boldness make it really a thing to behold. While its colors might a be a little too vivid as it occasionally slips into oversaturation rather than perfect balance, many of its satisfied users see the phablet’s clarity and vibrancy as quite a joy.

The Galaxy S6 Edge+ also features a powerful and lavish design that comes with a variety of security tools and great cameras too.

However, when compared to its base model, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ had the worse benchmark scores. For a price of about $925, the phablet is deemed quite expensive too and some critics say that its curved screen has very few compelling uses.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is also thinner than the standard Galaxy S6 Edge, but it’s naturally a lot taller and wider too. It has an overall measurement of 154 x 76 x 6.9 millimeters, with a very modest weight of 153 grams. But it is very difficult to hold with one hand given its dimension.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ vs. Apple iPhone 6S Plus

As the two phablets from both Samsung and Apple are directly competing with one another in the markets, GSM Arena decided to pit them together and compare one from the other.

The result was pretty even although the Galaxy S6 Edge+ had a few more advantages over the iPhone 6S Plus.

These advantages include its bigger, sharper and curved display. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ features a 5.7-inch QHD while the iPhone 6S Plus has a 5.5-inch screen with 1,080-pixel resolution.

Samsung’s phablet also has a higher resolution camera with 16 megapixels compared to the 12-megapixel shooter of the iPhone 6S Plus.

Other advantages include stereo sound in video recording, general-purpose NFC connectivity to facilitate the coming of the Samsung Pay, heart rate and oxygen saturation sensors, slightly higher battery capacity, wireless charging support, faster LTE category, optional dual SIM, and USB Host support.

But the Apple iPhone 6S Plus is a little tougher over the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ on various categories too including having a more powerful GPU, pressure-aware 3D Touch display, Live Photos functionality, higher resolution for slow-motion video at 1080 pixels at 120 frames per second, a 128GB internal storage version, faster fingerprint sensor, and dual-LED flash, which is better than the Galaxy S6 Edge+’s single LED.
