After a disappointing smartphone sales performance last year, highlighted by three consecutive quarters of declining sales output, Samsung is about to get back on track with the official release of its Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge to the global retail markets in less than two weeks time.
With the unique and groundbreaking features that the new flagship smartphones from the Korean tech giant that were unveiled during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 held in Barcelona, Spain, Samsung have two winners, with many smartphone analysts describing the handsets as the best ever to come yet from the company.
True to the promise of Samsung to bounce back from the disappointment caused by its less-than-satisfactory Samsung Galaxy S5 last year, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are poised to give the Apple iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus a serious run for the consumers’ money.
Looking good inside out
The new flagship smartphones of Samsung do not just look good outside, its hardware has also been turned into something very praise-worthy, not to mention its software and apps, which has less of the bloatwares that the company used to be also known for.
Samsung has listened to the comments and demands of users and has obviously streamlined the software and apps on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, notes Yahoo! News from an AP report.
The Samsung latest flagship smartphones have done away with the cheap-looking plastic casing and are now using glass front and sides and a metal back. The new design may be more slippery and has lost its waterproof protection, as well as the ability to replace its battery and add storage, but compared to the gains that it is bringing to the table, it is certainly worth the deal.
The new handsets also come with sharper cameras that match the performance of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, though it is still not in the level of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which was really way better than excellent. The rich colors that is produced by the high-resolution AMOLED screen makes the smartphones ideal for watching videos too.
Software improvements
While the software improvements made by Samsung on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge are not too obvious, they are nonetheless very much welcome.
It has replaced many of the usual icons with text. The ‘search’ tool previously found on Samsung smartphones as a magnifying glass icon now has the word ‘Search’ on the S6. The same also holds true for other controls such as ‘Edit’ and ‘More.’ But such only applies to Samsung features and apps. Third party apps will still have the usual icons.
When it is finally released to the retail markets beginning on April 10, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is pegged to have a price from $600 to $685 depending on storage size. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will be $100 more.
