Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs. Microsoft Surface Pro 3: The Battle of the Flagship Tablets

The war between the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is quite interesting. Even though both these devices fall under the tablet category, their customer base and functionalities are poles apart. While the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is primarily used as a maxi-smartphone, the Surface Pro 3 is a mini-laptop. Samsung Galaxy Note 4:

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 measures 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm and weighs around 176 grams. The device features a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M color definition and 1,440 x 2,560 pixel resolution and 515ppi density. It features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for advanced protection.

It is available in a 32 GB variant, which is expandable up to 128 GB via an external SD card. The tablet features a 3 GB RAM. The Note 4 runs on Android v4.4.4 KitKat and draws power from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset along with Exynos 5433, 2.7 GHz Quad-Core Krait 450 and 1.3 GHz Quad-Core Cortex CPU along with Adreno 420 and Mali T760 GPU.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 features a 16 MP primary camera with autofocus, optical image stabilization and LED flash along with a 3.7 MP secondary camera. It is capable of filming 2,160 pixel videos at 60fps with dual panorama and optical image stabilization.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3:

The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 features a 12-inch touchscreen featuring 2,160 x 1440 pixel resolution along with 216ppi density. One of the most important aspects of the Surface Pro 3 is the aspect ratio. Rather than sticking to the 4:3 ratio like arch-rivals Apple, Microsoft deemed it fit to opt for a 3:2 resolution.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is covered with a layer of silver-color magnesium, which gives it a premium feel. Like its predecessors, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 features a trapezoidal shape as well but the tablet is lighter and thinner than it used to be. Minor design changes have been incorporated too, which helps in heat dissipation.

The Surface Pro 3 features 5 MP primary and secondary cameras, which are capable of recording videos at 1,080 pixel resolution. The front camera is best suited for video calling via Skype and other applications while the rear camera provides decent performance.
