Fans of the “Fallout” franchise have had a rough year, as their emotions have been toyed with quite a lot with regards to the game’s next installment. And while Bethesda have been keeping quiet lately, only coming out to debunk rumors as they rise to prominence, there seems to be something going on behind the scenes at the studio, and if the current indications are true, Bethesda may be getting ready to “drop the bomb” in just a few months!
The latest news comes from Jason Schreier at Kotaku, who sent out a mysterious tweet allegedly related to “Fallout 4” – in it, he said “I hear we’ll get an announcement in the next few months”. What’s strange is that this wasn’t even a random tweet sent out to all his followers, but was specifically targeted at a total stranger. Or at least that’s what it looks like from the outside – it’s of course entirely possible that Schreier knows the person and has intentionally chosen him.
It’s worth pointing out that this should be treated on a whole different level than the average “Fallout 4” rumors that have been going around lately. Schreier is not a random journalist – he has actually been spearheading the news campaign for “Fallout 4” at Kotaku, and if anyone is up to date with the latest bits of juicy information about the title, it’s exactly him.
Another thing that should be noted is that Schreier never confirmed that he’s talking about something he’s heard from Bethesda, nor did he even imply that in the slightest. This could mean several things – on one hand, it’s possible that Bethesda have given Schreier some hints about the upcoming announcement, and he’s decided to share them against the company’s will. Another possibility is that Schreier is just speculating and has as much of an idea about the game as anyone else outside of Bethesda.
Last but not least, it’s also possible that Bethesda may have decided to recruit him for their marketing campaign for the game, which would be a smart move given Schreier’s reach within the community. While the company hasn’t done anything similar for the promotion of previous “Fallout” titles, there’s a first time for everything, and the huge popularity of “Fallout 4” would certainly warrant some experiments with the way it’s marketed.
In any case, if Schreier’s hint turns out to be true, then in a few months, fans are going to get the huge announcement that they have been waiting for. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the actual game is coming to the market anytime soon, but having that confirmation would certainly mean a lot to fans.
