One of the annoying aspects of waiting for a major production to be announced/released is having to deal with the inevitable barrage of countless rumors. People love to chat about possible details about their favorite films, games, books and TV shows, and especially today, when we have the Internet, it’s very easy to lose oneself in an ocean of rumors, alleged leaks, and critics’ opinions about something before the producers have even officially announced its existence. Disney’s “Frozen 2” is a good example of that, as the film has been surrounded by a lot of chatter, especially recently.
Among all the rumors about the film, the most prominent ones are about who’s going to be cast in it. There are lots of possibilities, and various famous actors have been mentioned at one point or another. Recently, there’s been speculation that Jennifer Lawrence is currently in talks for a role, and people allegedly close to the production have reported that the producers see her as a possibly great replacement for Kristen Bell.
Another rumor states that Queen Elsa and Anna could get new characters, and it’s possible that Idina Menzel won’t be brought back for her original role. This has also been stated by Menzel herself, who said that she’s not sure if she’ll be given the chance to reprise her role, but she is definitely hopeful that it will work out for her.
Yet another possibility for Anna is in Emily Blunt, known from “Into the Woods”. There has been talk that Blunt may be offered the role of Anna, but the actress herself sounded reluctant to the idea when she was asked about it. Apparently, she sees that as stealing the role away from Kristen Bell, and she doesn’t want to do that, so she would prefer to just let it go if she’s offered the chance. It’s not clear if Disney have actually been in talks with her regarding the possible performance, and it’s not very likely that she would say anything in that case anyway.
Because in the end, Disney are yet to even reveal “Frozen 2” officially, so if they’re negotiating roles for the film with different actors, there are probably strict NDAs in place to prevent them from saying anything to the public. On the other hand, rumors have the tendency to always find their way to the public, so it’s possible that we’ll start hearing about Disney’s plans for the future of the franchise at some point soon. Given the fact that rumors about “Frozen 2” have been getting so prominent lately, that could be an indication that something is being cooked up behind the scenes indeed.
