Unlike its predecessor, the GoPro Hero3, which was powered by an A7 processor, the GoPro Hero4 sports a more powerful A9 chip.
With its powerful processor, the GoPro Hero4 is capable of capturing 4K resolution videos at the rate of 30 frames per second, which no other camcorder existing in the market can do at this time. But that would likely change with the emergence of the GoPro Hero 5 and other digital cameras very soon.
The GoPro Hero4 is capable of capturing regular-speed footage of 1080-pixel at the rate of 120 frames per second and slow-motion footage of 720-pixel at the rate of 240 frames per second. At these frame rates, the video outputs of the GoPro Hero4 are certainly astonishing.
Putting into consideration the need for SD card to reduce the size and cost of the camera, GoPro made some necessary adjustment or sacrifices in the bit rate. The bit rate will be lower but the quality of recording will be higher.
As a waterproof camera, the GoPro Hero 4 is capable of shooting videos under water up to a depth of 60 meters.
The camera also has a Wi-Fi module, a Bluetooth, and an HDMI port for uploading and for sharing the videos and photos easily to others via other devices using the GoPro App, Smart Remote3, among others.
