The airing of Season 3 of the adult animated TV series “Rick and Morty” on Adult Swim in December this year is imminent, according to two writers of the show during a recent podcast.
Writers Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener made the disclosure during an interview on the “Chicks Who Script” podcast recently.
Both Adult Swim and the show’s creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon have yet to confirm the December 2016 airing date of “Rick and Morty” Season 3.
Rosbe and Carbiener also talked about the arduous process they had to undergo in developing the scripts for the very popular and top-rating adult animated show on Adult Swim.
One of the best attributes of “Rick and Morty” is its impromptu dialogue that is reliant on improvisation. It is the reason why the characters are often noted to be stuttering and talking about random subjects out of the blue, points out the Christian Times.
However, neither Rosbe nor Carbiener mentioned the exact airing date of “Rick and Morty” Season 3 in December. They said that they have already sent the scripts over to Bardel Entertainment in Vancouver, Canada for animation, but they are still not sure just exactly when the season will be completed.
But Rosbe disclosed that the studio shall be holding a screening in a couple of weeks.
True to Mr. Poopybutthole’s promise
Mr. Poopybutthole, a fan-favorite character in “Rick and Morty,” said last year that Season 3 of the TV series shall come out exactly one year and a half after the Season 2 finale.
It seems that the December release of Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” is true to the promise of Mr. Poopybutthole. Picking up from the cliffhanger of the Season 2 finale, the Season 3 will focus on Morty trying to help out his uncle Rick from detention in an intergalactic prison, notes Game & Guide.
There are also reports stating that “Rick and Morty” Season 3 shall have four exciting episodes when it premieres this December, which could be a hint that the TV series could air in the first week of December.
If and when “Rick and Morty” Season 3 airs in December, it would indeed be a great year-end treat for the fans of the adult animated TV series especially if the show stays true to its promise of another great adventure for Rick and Morty.
More drama in Season 3?
Although it is a laugh-a-second TV series, there are reports saying that the third season of “Rick and Morty” shall be more dramatic as couple Jerry and Beth will reportedly be filing for divorce.
Accordingly, Season 3 of the TV show is going to follow a dramatic storyline because it will focus more on the relationship of the lead characters. Thus, the speculations about the relationship of Jerry and Beth getting tested in the upcoming third season started swirling around.
Jerry and Beth are the parents of Rick. Spoilers for the upcoming Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” are saying that the couple will experience marital struggles with a possible ending of divorce.
Morty’s alcoholism will be among the main reasons why Jerry and Beth shall be constantly fighting. Rick will learn about it so he will be launching a war with Morty.

There are also reports saying that Rick’s wife might return in Season 3 of “Rick and Morty.” Mrs. Sanchez shall reportedly arrive to comfort Rick as he deals with a lot of personal stuff. It remains to be seen if Rick and his wife shall be reunited for good.
The executive producers of the popular adult animated TV series “Rick and Morty” pulled a major casting surprise when it was recently confirmed that action star Vin Diesel has agreed to make a guest appearance or his voice that is when Season 3 premieres on Adult Swim in December.
From its usual dose of 11 episodes during its first two seasons, “Rick and Morty” shall already be featuring 15 episodes for its upcoming third season.
