‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ to Push Rockstar Games to make ‘Red Dead Redemption’ a Permanent Franchise!

A video game cannot be made a permanent franchise if it is just only one game. It has to go beyond two.

Apparently, New York City-based game developer Rockstar Games is envisioning the same for the open-world Western action-adventure video game “Red Dead Redemption” now that its sequel is well under way.

It was actually Rockstar Games co-founder and CEO Straus Zelnick who confirmed that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will be coming out soon and that the game development company is finally looking at making the game a permanent franchise, notes Latinos Health.

In a previous interview, Zelnick said that Rockstar Games has been launching one new successful permanent franchise every year and they would like to keep doing that because one of the indicators of their strength as a game development company is the number of permanent video game franchises they have on their roster.

Although Rockstar has just released one “Red Dead Redemption” game thus far, Zelnick believes that the game deserves to be a permanent franchise similar to the widely popular “GTA” video game series on its stable.

Zelnick said that when “Red Dead Redemption 2” finally comes out sometime next year and the gamer reception approximates or surpasses that of its predecessor, Rockstar Games will push through with its plan to make the video game series a permanent franchise.

Possible release date

Based on rumors and speculations, “Red Dead Redemption 2” could come out next year although up until this time, Rockstar Games has yet to make an announcement regarding the official release date of the game, notes the Christian Today.

Most of the rumors that have been going around on the internet regarding the release date of “Red Dead Redemption 2” state that the game will be released by developer Rockstar Games in the second half of 2016.

But based on some leaks and spoilers that were released by insiders of Rockstar Games, the developer started working on “Red Dead Redemption 2” immediately after the release of “Red Dead Redemption” on 2011.

With close to five years of work poured into the game, the leaks indicate that the sequel to the game is very much ready and will most likely be released in the first few months of 2016.

However, since there is still no official statement coming from the end of Rockstar Games, the latest speculation about the release date of “Red Dead Redemption 2” should be taken with a fine grain of salt.

Confirming the sequel indirectly

Danny Ross, a former employee of Rockstar has recently taken to Reddit to confirm the sequel to the massively popular “Red Dead Redemption,” which was released way back in 2011.

Although it is possible that the Danny Ross on Reddit is not the real Danny Ross who was an ex-employee of Rockstar, but the one on Reddit actually responded to fan questions on what should gamers expect from Rockstar.

Before he worked for Rockstar Games, Ross previously served on the “Opie & Anthony” radio show. So when he was asked by the fan what Rockstar has on deck at the moment, Ross gave a cryptic answer.

He said ‘Really? Dumbass. Really? Two’ which many critics and keen gamers have interpreted as synonymous to “Red Dead Redemption 2,” basing on the initials of the phrases he quipped.

However, Ross eventually admitted that he only worked on “GTA 5” for Rockstar. He also said that he was just playing, adding that “GTA 6” is up next but he, like other gamers, are waiting for more Michael Mann movies to rip off first.

Red Dead Redemption 2

According to a Redditor, who goes by the name of AnonDN1978, “Red Dead Redemption 2” shall have three additional playable characters. The first two characters will be Irish and Seth. Irish is said to be bank teller from Kansas City while Seth is someone from Ireland who migrated to America.

The goal of the two main characters is to look for hidden treasures. Both characters will meet in Tumbleweed, Texas. The third character will apparently be created by the players, and will be a gun-for-hire of sorts, quite like the playable character in “GTA V.”
