‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Confirmed by a Former Rockstar Employee in a Cryptic Answer!

While reports of the open world Western action-adventure “Red Dead Redemption 2” have been making the rounds on the internet for quite some time already, nothing is actually confirmed since game developer Rockstar Games has not said anything about the game thus far.

However, Danny Ross, a former employee of Rockstar has recently taken to Reddit to confirm the sequel to the massively popular “Red Dead Redemption,” which was released way back in 2011, notes iDigital Times.

Although it is possible that the Danny Ross on Reddit is not the real Danny Ross who was an ex-employee of Rockstar, but the one on Reddit actually responded to fan questions recently on what gamers should expect from Rockstar soon.

Before he worked for Rockstar Games, Ross previously worked on the “Opie & Anthony” radio show. So when he was asked by a fan what Rockstar has on deck at the moment, Ross gave a cryptic answer.

He said ‘Really? Dumbass. Really? Two’ which many critics and keen gamers have interpreted as synonymous to “Red Dead Redemption 2,” basing on the initials of the phrases he quipped.

However, later on the same thread on Reddit, Ross eventually admitted that he only worked on “GTA 5” for Rockstar. He also said that he was just playing, adding that “GTA 6” is up next but he, like other gamers, are waiting for more Michael Mann movies to rip off first.

Another set of rumors from another ex-employee

Meanwhile, another set of rumors about “Red Dead Redemption 2” seems to be emanating from a supposed disgruntled former employee of Rockstar who goes by the name of AnonDN1978 on Reddit.

He said that he was leaking information about “Red Dead Redemption 2” because he hates his old boss at Rockstar who was not so good at all.

AnonDN1978 disclosed that the sequel shall officially have the title “Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the Old West” and it will be centered on the stories of Seth and Iris, who are both characters from the first game, notes the Inquisitr.

He also revealed that Seth is a necrophiliac and obsessive treasure hunter while Iris is an amoral alcoholic fixer of sorts.

The Redditor also talked about several features of the game including a third playable and customizable character, purchasable safehouses, and a gang system that will enable a player to join various gangs or even ride with a posse of law enforcement officers.

A prequel, not a sequel

If latest reports are to be believed regarding the plotline of “Red Dead Redemption 2,” it is not going to be a sequel but a prequel of “Red Dead Redemption.”

The information is actually based on another disclosure made by AnonDN1978 saying that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will be set 12 years prior to “Red Dead Redemption,” which really makes the upcoming video game a prequel.

The Reddit user was actually the one who first revealed on the online public forum site that game developer Rockstar Games has been working on the title for several years now.

He also revealed that main protagonist John Marston in “Red Dead Redemption” will not be coming back in the next game, which makes some sense because the timeline of “Red Dead Redemption 2” is 12 years earlier.

Red Dead Redemption 2

If that is the case, then the previous rumors that Jack Marston, the son of John Marston, will be the main protagonist for “Red Dead Redemption 2” is not accurate at all because his character would just be too young if the game is set a dozen years before “Red Dead Redemption.”

Interestingly, if Seth and Iris will be returning to the prequel of the game, then they should be looking like 12 years younger than what they appear in “Red Dead Redemption.”
