If you are a fan of the original Alien movies, than this week was a good one for you. This week the plot for Prometheus 2 was revealed by director Ridley Scott. You might remember Shaw and David from the first movie and they would be the main topic for any discussion leading into the production of the second installment to the movie series. Ridley Scott revealed that the two, played by Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender, would be coming back for the second movie and that has fans buzzing all over the internet.
The first film did leave a few gaps at the end and loyal fans have been waiting around almost 2 years to see if they would be filled with new content from the second movie. Scott is going to have to do some answering in the second movie just to keep the story line going the right direction. One of the most talked about problems with the first movie was that some things were left unresolved. The movie did get very positive reviews, despite the resolution issues, so that would be expected for the second one.
Just like with new interview content that end up on the web, most of the good information is left out. The same goes for Prometheus 2 and where the movie is actually headed. Ridley Scott did say that it would be “getting away from gods and dragons and shit”, but that is something that was reported on a while ago already. Die hard Alien fans do not want to see the movie move away from the path it is on, but there is little information to go on right now that claims any direction.
In another interview Noomi Rapace let it slide that a new protagonist would be involved in the second movie and she mentioned. Two words were mentioned during an interview and they were “God” and the “Devil”. Those are two things that can strike the fear into people better than most horror stories, mainly because the story line can go either way with this one. Other than those few tidbits, there has not been much said about the movie and where it is headed.
With that being said, filming for the next movie is said to begin late in 2015. If all goes well the movie should be in theaters by the first quarter of 2016. Because none of this information has been confirmed it is hard to know what to expect as far as a timeline of events. If all goes well, the fans that are following very closely will be waiting to see the third movie in the series.
