AMC has released a sneak peek of the second season of the supernatural black comedy series “Preachers”. The sneak peek is titled The Search for God: Day One and shows a glimpse of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), Cassidy (Joe Gilgun), and Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Negga) in the car. Cassidy can be seen talking about circumcisions while the group of three are on their way to pay a visit to a “religious scholar” as a part of their search for God.
A three-minute featurette titled A Look Ahead was also released which shows a preview of the second season. The executive producer has been calling the second season a “pretty unique stew.”
The official synopsis for the second season explains the story:
Preacher follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), who is inhabited by the renegade spawn of an angel and demon and gains the power to control people with just a word. The series’ second season returns this summer and follows Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they embark on a road trip to find God, dealing with issues both worldly and other-worldly along the way.
The official twitter account of the show also posted a motion poster of The Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) with the tagline, “The Saint of Killers is always watching.” Another motion poster showed Eugene “Arseface” Root (Ian Colletti) with the caption, “He’s been through hell.”
Ruth Negga talked about the adventures of the second season, “They’re thrown together on this road trip, and Tulip and Cassidy are just… they’re so excited. It’s like turning kicks. They are going to the seaside. You know, they think it’s gonna be fun, and ice cream, and sand castles, and splashing around. And it’s the complete opposite of that.”
The promotional banner for the second season of the series features Cassidy, Jesse, and Tulip with the watchword “Powerful AF”. Season 2 will contain 13 episodes and will be introducing several new actors, including Noah Taylor, Pip Torrens, Julie Ann Emery, Malcolm Barrett, Ronald Guttman and Justin Prentice. The second season will be premiered on AMC on June 25 at 9/8c.
