‘Pokemon Go’ Player Insists that He’s Finished Catching All Pokemons After Travelling the World

Nick Johnson made headlines as the first player to have caught all Pokemons in the famed “Pokemon Go” mobile augmented reality game It might sound easy, but his Pokemon journey came with a lot of help.

Johnson, who’s based in Brooklyn, officially has completed his Pokedex after traveling the world to catch all those pocket monsters last month.

According to the original video game where “Pokemon Go” was based on, there is a total of 151 Pokemons.

In the US, players can catch 142 of those, six are rare Pokemons, and three are exclusive to certain international regions.

The player named Nick Johnson received a sponsorship from Expedia and Marriot Rewards and was given the chance to travel the world in order to catch them all.

Nick flew to Paris, Hong Kong, and Sydney to complete his mission of capturing exclusive Pokemons. The last creature he caught on the list was a Kangaskhan, a Pokemon exclusive to Australia and New Zealand.

Johnson said he found it outside of Tommy Bahama shop. The player also said that he was able to complete his Pokedex with the aid and tips of other trainers.

He says that he was able to find Mr. Mime in Paris when someone tipped him off about the character’s location during an interview.

Now that his collection is complete, Johnson is bound for Tokyo, the birthplace of the popular series. The trainer already arrived in the Japanese capital and is enjoying some leisure time.

Despite finishing the game, Johnson says that he won’t stop playing the game. In fact, he’s looking forward to Niantic’s impending roll out of legendary “Pokemon Z” and is excited to add more characters to his collection.

Latest update on ‘Pokemon Go’ backfires at Niantic Labs

Meanwhile, unlike Johnson who’s ecstatic over his achievement with the game, most players seem to hate it after Niantic Labs rolled out its latest update.

The game developer incurred a big amount of hate from millions of players after Niantic decided to remove the “Pokemon Go” three-step tracker. Players then lashed out at the developer saying that with the tracker removed, it was harder for them to find and catch Pokemons.

The developer replied to the backlash they have received because of this. In the company’s official website, they explained that the removal of the tracker was done to improve the game’s underlying design.

Game & Guide reports that while the tracker is popular, it also confused a lot of players thus not meeting Niantic Lab’s goals for that feature.

The three-step tracker serves as a gauge for the trainers to learn at a glance the proximity of a Pokemon that they are trying to catch.

Its three-step indicator means that a Pokemon is far, a two-step indicator means it’s nearer and a one-step meant that it’s within the player’s proximity already.

Weeks before the removal of this feature, the three-step tracker was reportedly broken. Some players were complaining that the feature was not functioning as it should be and did not accurately estimate the distance of the targeted Pokemon.

Players were expecting that Niantic Labs would improve and fix the bugs that caused the tracker to malfunction, but they were all surprised when the game developer decided to get rid of the feature completely.

The backlash was immediate and players all over the world expressed their disappointment with Niantic’s move. Japanese players even down-voted the app resulting in a less than two star ranking in the Google Play Store.

In the same post by the Japanese developer, they stated that they will be informing the players of developments made in improving the useful feature. Now, players rely on third party sites that help them locate the pocket monsters until Niantic fixes it.
