Planetside 2 is a game of varying moments. It features a war of titanic proportions with thousands of players battling it out on four different continents, on the planet Auraxis. It features settings where you get to see lots of tanks menacingly rolling down the icy plains on Esamir. You can further notice the night being lit up by laser fire unleashed by hordes of gamers.
Joe Weathers, the System and UI design lead, has revealed his plans regarding the addition of an automated deployable sentry turret. The turret will be designed for the Engineer Class in Planetside 2. According to the developers, this particularly exciting addition for the Engineer Class could come as early as next month. However, it will release after a lot of extensive play-testing conducted on the PTS server.
Weathers finally declared that if the entire play-testing process goes according to plan, they will release the turret by the end of November or early December. Presently, the Engineer Class players in the game have access to two different types of manned automated turrets.
These manned turrets will come in the anti-infantry and anti-vehicle variants. For all of the players who played the original Planetside game, there was an automated variety that was present for each Empire. This particular concept of designing is still in the developmental stages.
However, Jon Weathers still took his time to announce this new piece of information to the community and await feedback. He further added that the lethality of these turrets plus many other details is still being discussed. Gamers wish to know whether they will be simply used as early warning detectors or complete area-denial killing devices. Once the design is properly solidified, gamers will be notified through an updated post.
In the meantime, according to SOE, the biggest official online battle to take place for Planetside 2 was the recent Server Smash. It was an event that was organized by the gaming community and officially supported by the major developers.
We are all aware that the world in Planetside 2 is quite persisting. Hence, it is quite difficult for gamers from different servers to play against each other. This was stated by David Carey, the producer of Planetside 2. He further declared that Server Smash is a completely dedicated, invite-only server. Due to this, it creates an opportunity for players on different servers, to meet each other on a common ground and test their skills.
The event took place on September 6th and had a total of 576 players who joined either as Terran Republic or the Vanu Sovereignty factions. Among these, 375 gamers actively participated in the game.
Stay tuned for more fascinating updates from the gaming fraternity!
