With about a year left to go before we see the next “Pirates of the Caribbean”, reports indicate that some parts of the production work are wrapping up already, and some milestones have already been reached. For example, the filming of scenes involving actor Johnny Depp is reportedly over, and Depp himself recently took the opportunity to talk about his work representing the character of Captain Jack Sparrow over the years, and how his own perception of him has changed.
It’s interesting to take a look behind the scenes and into the mind of Johnny Depp when he’s in that role. His character has changed a lot over the several installments in the film franchise, and according to Depp, his own understanding of Jack Sparrow also grew quite a lot over the years. In fact, the actor admitted that in the beginning, he didn’t quite grasp the full depth of the kind of personality that he was supposed to portray.
Many see Jack Sparrow as a light, easygoing character, at least on the surface, and judging by the comments people frequently make in discussions about the series, not many realize how difficult it actually is to play the role. Depp claimed that he needed a lot of private time to collect his thoughts and figure out his emotions about the character, and he claimed that he frequently visited a sauna to organize his mind and unwind.
The whole journey was apparently full of difficulties for the actor, and there were reports that he even had to endure times of financial strain in order to reach his goal of being on the screen as Jack Sparrow, but in the end the effort paid off many times over. Depp’s portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow became iconic in the film industry, and many people are now looking forward to the release of the next film.
There are some good news on that front too – it seems like work on the production is coming along nicely, as it has been pushed by more than one month forward for its release. Instead of coming out in July 2017, the film should now be ready for May, and the news about the early screening immediately became the subject of many fans’ attention. There is never a shortage of discussions about “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” in general, but the fact that the production has been moving along well enough to bring it out sooner than planned is always a great sign.
Of course, it could also imply other, slightly less positive things – some fans have been worried about the possibility of the producers cutting corners in order to meet their goal. We really don’t have any reason to believe this at the moment though, and from what we’ve heard about the production from behind-the-scenes rumors, there haven’t been any major problems on the horizon. It’s always possible that we are simply not getting the full story of course, but the best thing for fans right now would be to wait for the final release instead of coming up with their own speculations.
For what it’s worth, Disney did release a statement addressing the early release of the film, explaining that the main motivation behind the move was the successful launch of the new “Star Wars” film. Some fans have been questioning that statement, claiming that the success of one film should not result in the other being rushed, but again, we have no indication that the people behind “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” are omitting any important details of their work.
