We’re probably going to find out more about the production over the next few months, at least if the current rumors about the development pace are true. As the work picks up, the number of rumors and news surrounding it is going to increase.
Hopefully we’re not going to hear anything that upsets the core fans of the franchise, as it would be quite sad to see this franchise going under after such a beautiful run. Pirates were a bit underrepresented on the big screen in the last few years, and “Pirates of the Caribbean” was the perfect answer to that.
But with regards to the above rumors about a reboot, it’s worth noting that Johnny Depp was recently reported to have talked about the new film at a convention panel, where he revealed that Orlando bloom would be joining the cast.
That would be the first performance by Bloom in the franchise in quite a long time, and fans have been excited to see him back. But more importantly, this is a good hint that a reboot might not be happening for this particular installment. Or at least, if the producers really are rebooting the series, they might go with the original cast and characters and simply give everyone a different new personality, although that might work out a bit weirdly.
