Pikmin 4: What We Know So Far + Trailer

The Japanese trailer for Hey! Pikmin has been released by Nintendo. However, the famous Pikmin 4 has not yet been released according to what Nintendo chief creative Shigeru Miyamoto told Eurogamer this week.

Hey! Pikmin is developed by Yoshi’s New Island studio Arzest and should not be mixed with the fan favorite Pikmin 4.

Nintendo released a statement on its official website saying, “We can confirm that Pikmin 4 is in development but that is all we can confirm at present.”

Miyamoto mentioned the game to Eurogamer in July 2015 by praising his team, “[Pikmin 4 is] very close to completion … Pikmin teams are always working on the next one.”

“I’ve been told not to share anything about this from PR,” Miyamoto also said, “but I can tell you it is progressing.”

Pikmin 3 released almost four years ago on Wii U in 2013. It received positive reviews because of the way it used the Wii U tablet and modified Pikmin mechanics. Pikmin 3 did extremely good in its sale by reportedly selling over 200,000 units before the end of 2013.

It is expected that it will be released by the year 2018. However, fans can play Hey! Pikmin in the time being.

Hey! Pikmin follows Captain Olimar and his Pikmin who go on board a new adventure. Players will have to throw different kinds of Pikmin to unravel puzzles, overcome trials, and overthrow enemies.

Nintendo’s Hey! Pikmin is a 2D spin-off of the famous strategy puzzler series. It recently received demos on the eShop. Eurogamer contributor Stace Harmon gave a shot to Hey! Pikmin and wrote a preview saying, “doesn’t offer a great deal to be excited about.”

Hey! Pikmin is set to be released on 3DS on July 13 in Japan, and July 28 in North America and Europe.
