The television show launches late last year and was not popular at first. However, critics all over the internet were giving it better scores as the season went on. The online reviews are “generally favorable”, with Rotten Tomatoes users giving it a 91%, or a “certified fresh” ranking.
A few other high profile websites reviewed the first episode as “a masterpiece of impressive depth” and “it is amazing”, which is something that fans bit on right away. In the United Kingdom, the reviews were not as high as compared to those here in the United States. One reviewer compared the show to the popular Game of Thrones, with softer lighting, slower sex scenes and a slower pace.
It looks like it depends on what type of show you are into, but the dramatic fan clubs are getting more members with each new show that pops up on cable networks all over the world. The show has been credited with the success of Starz giving them a better stance against competition like Showtime.
