Netflix has released a Holiday special video teaser of Season 4 of the American comedy-drama TV series “Orange is the New Black” and it featured the fan-favorite characters of Litchfield Penitentiary spreading a little Christmas cheer, prison style.
The video featured an ensemble of primary characters of “Orange is the New Black” putting a spin on the Holiday classic tune “Twas the Night Before Christmas” detailing Santa’s visit to the prison instead of the usual story, notes the Latin Post.
Fans of “Orange is the New Black” most certainly got excited with the short video trailer because they believe that it is also an indicator of the characters returning for Season 4, which is due to premiere on Netflix around the middle of 2016.
Interestingly, Alex Vause, played by Laura Prepon, is on the Holiday video teaser, which many deduce is an indication that she will be coming back on the fourth season of the popular TV series. It is likely that she survived the assault by a killer as arranged by Kubra, played by Eyas Younis.
It could be recalled that during the Season 3 finale, Alex was in a huge cliffhanger as she was trapped into a corner by a security guard who turned out to be an assassin.
Fans were actually wondering whether Laura Prepon would still be part of Season 4 considering that her character Alex appears to be teetering on the throes of death. But the actress seemed to have quashed the speculations that her character is going to die when she posted on social media a few months ago a selfie of herself and her Litchfield Penitentiary ID.
When word came around that Laura Prepon is still involved in “Orange is the New Black” and filming her parts, fans knew that Alex would still be around in Season 4.
The Holiday video teaser sealed the deal for Laura Prepon and thus, fans should expect to see Alex alive and kicking when the fourth season of “Orange is the New Black” premieres on Netflix.
Not in the video
However, one cast member who was notably absent from the “Orange is the New Black” holiday video is Natasha Lyonne, who plays Nicky in the series.
It can be recalled that Nicky was sent to maximum security when a cache of drugs was found on her belongings.
While initial reports say that Nicky shall be returning to Season 4 of the TV show, her return has not been confirmed by the showrunner or the producers. Her absence in the video may be a portent of the fact that she will not appear on the fourth season of the TV series.
Even without Nicky, however, the fourth season of “Orange is the New Black” is expected to be full of dramatic and interesting characters. There are just plenty of storylines and characters to follow on the TV show that viewers have so much to chew on most of the time, notes the Ecumenical News.
Close to wrapping up filming
According to latest reports, filming for Season 4 of “Orange is the New Black” is close to being put into a wrap and it is likely that the major scenes involving the primary characters are already done with.
As a matter of fact, actresses Taylor Schilling, Uzo Adaba, Yael Stone, and Adrienne C. Moore have already been spotted enjoying the Holidays in Hawaii, which means that they are through filming their parts for Season 4 of “Orange is the New Black.”
Meanwhile, “Orange is the New Black” is one of the six TV series that are nominated for the upcoming 73rd annual Golden Globes Award under the Best Comedy TV Series.
