OnePlus Two Brings the Battle of Phablets to the Next Level!

Smartphone users cannot help but see the similarities between the successor of OnePlus One, which is OnePlus Two, and the latest Galaxy Note launched by the Korean tech company Samsung, the Galaxy Note 5. With the recent launch of the new OnePlus handset, analysts in the mobile phone industry can already predict the tough battle ahead between smartphone manufacturers.

OnePlus launched the new OnePlus Two on July 27 and consumers who were able to get the handset from the company’s rigid invite system quickly noticed how similar it is with the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. It can be remembered that the Samsung phablet was also launched this month. It seems that OnePlus made sure to release its own phablet within the same month of Samsung’s product launch.

Mobile experts were quick to review the two smartphones in order to find out how similar these phablets are.

Version 5 vs. Version 2

Samsung released the new and improved iteration of its Galaxy Note 4 with the launch of the handset’s fifth version. On the other hand, OnePlus improved its immensely successful smartphone with the second version of OnePlus One.

The first thing that is noticeable for both phones is their price tags. Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was initially released within the price range of $1,000 while OnePlus Two is only around $350 based on the data from GSM Arena.

When it comes to the handsets’ designs, Galaxy Note 5 carries the modern and contemporary style while OnePlus Two can be compared to LG G4 since it is a big phone but at the same time, the smartphone has a distinctive sandpaper grey-black back like its predecessor.

In terms of thinness, Samsung improved the width of its phablet by reducing it into just 76.1 mm. Surprisingly, OnePlus Two features almost the same thinness with 74.9 mm.

One of the advantages of OnePlus Two is that it carries a 5.5-inch screen display, which is around 73.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. This measurement is close to Samsung Galaxy Note 5’s 5.7-inch screen display, which is 75.9 percent screen-to-body ratio. But, what makes Samsung’s handset better is its QHD screen resolution while OnePlus Two sticks with the usual full HD display.

OnePlus One

When it comes to the smartphones’ batteries, OnePlus decided to retain the non-removable battery while Samsung adopted this aspect for the first time. Since there are comprehensive power banks being sold these days, the Korea-based tech company chose to go for the non-removable battery feature.

Meanwhile, OnePlus Two and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 have similar disadvantages because both smartphones do not have a slot for microSD card. This means that buyers can only have a maximum of 64GB storage if they will purchase the new versions for OnePlus and Samsung Galaxy Note phablets.

Some gadget reviewers noticed that OnePlus Two is an ambitious, powerful phone but unlike the flagship smartphones produced by Motorola, Samsung, and Apple, the handset will not set back the handset buyers for too much loot.

Even Chinese smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi, Oppo, and Huawei will find it difficult to face OnePlus’ influential device due to its affordability, sleek design, and excellent features that are almost comparable to other flagship smartphones being sold in the international markets.

At the time when OnePlus initially released its first smartphone, OnePlus One comfortably set the benchmark of what an affordable handset would look like while being included in the list of best Android devices.
