As part of its promotional efforts for the upcoming launching of its OnePlus Two flagship smartphone later this year, the Chinese smartphone maker is actually holding two promotional contests for OnePlus One users.
OnePlus is holding two simultaneous contests which is called “Photo Mania 2015” for photos and “Your OnePlus Story” for videos, reports the Phone Arena. The contests are open to all OnePlus One users all over the world since entries are submitted via social media.
“Photo Mania 2015” requires competitors to post an unedited and unfiltered photo in Instagram that was taken using the camera of a OnePlus One smartphone. The criteria for determining the finalists would be based on the number of likes that their respective image will get on Instagram and also the technical ability in taking the shot. There will be one winner for the “Photo Mania 2015” contest which shall be basically chosen by the OnePlus One community through votation.
On the other hand, entrants to the “Your OnePlus Story” video contest need to record a video of themselves explaining why they love the OnePlus One and what do they expect with its upcoming successor, the OnePlus Two. Of course the video should be filmed using a OnePlus One smartphone and it should be at least 1080p to be uploaded on YouTube.
A total of 10 finalists will be picked by OnePlus employees. The major winner, just like in the photo contest, will be selected by the OnePlus One community but a second winner will be drafted out of the nine other finalists by OnePlus.
Advance OnePlus Two experience
The three winners of the two contests – one from the “Photo Mania 2015” and two from the “Your OnePlus Story” – will win an all-expenses-covered trip to Hong Kong where they shall be able to personally experience OnePlus Two firsthand.
Accordingly, the contest winners shall also play a crucial part in a project that the Chinese smartphone maker is working on in time for the launching of the OnePlus Two soon.
Entries to the two OnePlus contests will be accepted after June 15 but the company did not specify when the awarding will be held as it will be easy to predict the launching date of the OnePlus Two from there.
Third quarter launching
But there are already hints and indications that the Chinese smartphone maker will be launching its next flagship handset either in September or October this year.
The pronouncement came no less from Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus, when he was asked recently why there was no update or anything at all about OnePlus Two during the company’s “Time to Change” event on June 1.
Pei said that while OnePlus Two was already long overdue for release, he said that the company wanted to make sure that the successor to the OnePlus One is being designed carefully to live up to its reputation as another flagship killer.
