The producers of “Once Upon a Time” have done a fantastic job taking elements from classical sources and combining them into a fantastic story that just works well from all angles. Some were skeptical about the premise at first, claiming that it’s doomed to either become repetitive fast, or “jump the shark” early on, but neither of those happened.
In fact, the show managed to solidify its position on the screen and is now enjoying a stable, loyal fan base always engaging in interesting discussions on a regular basis, and in multiple forums.
Fans always have some interesting ideas for how the show should progress as well. For example, there were some talks about tapping into an even more diverse range of mythos and fairy tales, with some specific examples including creatures and stories that are largely unknown to the general world.
This could go against the grain of dealing with well-known characters from widespread tales, but at the same time it could help introduce new ideas to fans of the show. Not to mention the huge potential for exciting characters there is in the various Eastern works of literature, for example. It remains to be seen what the producers have prepared for us for season 6, but if they ever run out of ideas, they always have a vast sea of them out there that is still untapped.
