Things are heating up on the set of “Once Upon a Time”. With just a couple of months to go before season 6 arrives on the screen, fans have been getting eager to learn any spoilers about the producers’ plans, and we’ve been getting some interesting details here and there. Meanwhile, Comic Con is coming up on July 23, and we’re going to hear some new things about the upcoming season there. Hopefully, the showrunners have prepared some more interesting details rather than vague statements along the lines of “it will be the show’s best season yet”.
But considering the previews we’ve seen for Saturday’s panel so far, it looks like the producers are actually planning to engage their audience in a more exciting way. There will be a strong presence from the show’s crew, including several prominent cast members, and the whole session is going to last just under an hour.
While that may not sound like much, fans who’ve attended Comic Con panels before should know that it’s actually plenty of time to reveal various details. Plus, “Once Upon a Time” in particular already has some history with Comic Con panel sessions, so fans have every right to expect a good presentation. Those who are interested in getting some autographs will have about half an hour for that after the session too.
From what we’ve heard about season 6 so far, it sounds like the writers are moving in the direction of more conflicts and drama between some characters, while at the same time they’re raising the challenge level as a whole. There will likely be multiple villains throughout the season, while Regina could be given a more central role in the plot.
The ending of season 5 already implied that we’ll be seeing Regina more often and she might even be key to taking down The Evil Queen, so fans have been prepared for that for some time now. According to reports, Lana Parrilla has expressed excitement about the idea of playing the two characters simultaneously, so it would be interesting to see her performance. It must definitely be taxing to have to switch personalities on a whim like that, especially considering the differences between Regina and The Evil Queen.
Other than that, we’re going to see some new and old villains alike. While the writers have decided to bring some new characters into the mix, Mr. Hyde is still going to be around. We don’t know exactly who the new villains are going to be, but it’s been implied that there will be some familiar names or faces in there. It’s also possible that some bad guys who have been off the screen for some time could return for the new season, though it’s not clear if their presence is going to be temporary or in a more permanent way. If the writers are actually thinking of splitting this season’s villains across multiple fronts though, that should definitely make things interesting from start to finish.
Another character that’s been confirmed for this season is Morpheus, the Greek god. He will not actually be seen in the real world though (at least from what we could understand), but will rather provide guidance for Belle while she’s under her sleeping spell. It’s still not clear if the god will interact with the other characters in any way, or if he will “materialize” outside of the dream world, but knowing the premise of this show, anything is possible.
