‘Delena’ shippers would want nothing but her return as Elena in order to satisfy their fancy for a Damon and Elena reunion and possibly a happy ever after ending.
However, non-Delena fans think that the departure of Nina Dobrev as Elena has made “The Vampire Diaries” an even better show. They also believe that if Dobrev is to come back, she is better off reprising Katherine.
But the poor ratings of “The Vampire Diaries” during its Season 7 speak for itself, which only points to the fact that the reason for the slide is because of the absence of Nina Dobrev.
Producers and the showrunners are one in coming to the conclusion that the exit of Nina Dobrev during the seventh season really affected the ratings of the show and it is now obvious that the actress is the reason why the TV series was a hit during its first six seasons.
Elena and Damon are the prime sweethearts of “The Vampire Diaries” even to the point that Dobrev and Somerhalder took their relationship offscreen.
But when they broke up in real life and Somerhalder decided to marry Nikki Reed, who ironically played a vampire in the hit movie series “Twilight,” Dobrev left the show.
